Evie-Robert Posted August 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2016 Hi We did the 7 night south bound inland passage from Fairbanks to Whittier The cruise was fantastic. We bought the Reflections DVD (2 disc set) but DVD 2 is faulty I contacted Princess today they said they do not keep copies and can't replace it Is there anyone else on this forum that bought the DVD set? It is easy to copy the DVDs. I can post photo of mine to prove I bought it Thanks in advance If Princess read this I am really disappointed as I specifically asked what if it is faulty, we are from Australia - they said just contact Princess they would replace it Regards Robert
rbelfi Posted August 31, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2016 It's possibly the 2nd DVD is NTSC (North America broadcast) instead of PAL, which is what Australia I believe uses. Is the disc damaged or just won't play? Capturing it into computer software and re-rendering it would allow you to export with whatever settings you'd like. It's mind boggling that cruise lines don't produce HD files on flashdrives or at least offer the option as they record in HD and then compress it down so far. Quicker and would be easy to save for archiving for this exact reason. Good luck
Evie-Robert Posted September 1, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 1, 2016 Thanks Cruise DVDs are no longer regionalised They are computer files that play on DVD players and computers The problem with ours is the DVD was actually physically damaged - a scratch on it We didn't check, there wasn't a DVD player to test it on I am trying to get them to recreate it from master. If yes, great. If not, they have agreed to refund. I definitely prefer option of DVD as it looked really good in previews on the ship
rbelfi Posted September 1, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2016 (edited) If they can't copy it from a master then you could try running it through a recovery app. I've used Isobuster at a previous job and at minimum should give you all the video available outside of the scratched area. It's hit or miss on if you can get the whole thing. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited September 1, 2016 by rbelfi
