GottoCruise Posted May 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2004 After 25 Princess cruises-- our most interesting & different itinerary was on the "old" Island Princess - Capetown to Rome - first time they sailed this---- Pre cruise -We flew to Johanesburg - 2 nights to sightsee - then flew to Krugar Nat. Park and went on Safari at Londolozi, 3 nights -flew back and took the Blue Train from Pretoria to Capetown - 1 night - stayed in and around Capetown 5 nights - then embarked the ship to Rome - 23 days (I think) & also did a post cruise stay in Rome ...the West African Ports were fascinating --they don't do some(most) of the Ports anymore - too bad.... this was one of our best trips - sights and memories of a lifetime!! Of course this wasn't on the list - those on the list are just "vacations"...all are nice and relaxing - one as good as another - we've done them all more than a few times...but.. The experience of Geography, People and Cultures different from our own, is what makes cruising exciting to me!...Princess are you reading this??? How about some "different Ports for a change for old cruisers like us? We are getting tired of "repeating" Ports.... Until PACIFIC PRINCESS 7/25/04 ISLANDS OF THE PACIFIC THEATER <IMG SRC="http://escati.linkopp.net/cgi-bin/countdown.cgi?trgb=000000&srgb=00ff00&prgb=0000ff&cdt=2004;07;25;12;00;00&timezone=GMT Until GOLDEN PRINCESS B2B 7/31/05 & 8/10/05 EUROPEAN CAPITALS & BRITISH ISLES <IMG SRC="http://escati.linkopp.net/cgi-bin/countdown.cgi?trgb=000000&srgb=00ff00&prgb0000ff&cdt=2005;07;31;12;00;00&timezone=GMT

relevart Posted May 15, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 15, 2004 My favorite was the 30 day Bangkok to Venice cruise, visiting all the exotic places. My second favorite was Stockholm to Copenhagan and experiencing the 'white nights' as well as seeing St. Petersburg and Talin. There is a big world out there and I want to see as much of it as I can! I don't think I could pick a favorite of these because they were each outstanding: Amazon to San Juan, eastern Med (Italy, Egypt, Turkey and Greece), Panama Canal (full transit) and most recently, Hawaii. We are booked for summer 2005 and we can't wait even though we have a western carib planned in between. Loved Alaska - will definitely to do that again. janine543 Posted May 17, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 17, 2004 The very best for crystal clear water, unique colored fish, overwater bungalows, beautiful people and french bread is the French Polynesian islands (Tahiti, Bora Bora, Tahaa, Raitea, Moorea). We plan on going back in 2 years. I can't wait. lacruisecat Posted May 17, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 17, 2004 I have been to Hawaii, Australia, Alaska, Europe and I love them all, but in terms of cruises, I love Caribbean cruises. I can't see myself doing a cruise of the four destinations I listed first, because there is so much to see, you can't do justice to the locations on a day trip from a cruise. I don't think I can ever cruise to Europe - just too much to see. As far as Alaska, I spent several days in Juneau and Anchorage and loved every minute. Again, I could not see just a day in the location and really seeing and experiencing the place. The Caribbean on the other hand is perfect - the islands are small and you can see most of the island in a day. Some islands don't have too many competing things to do and that makes them perfect for relaxing on the beach. I love Caribbean cruises and the southern is my favorite. I am really looking forward to my time on the Golden - although I like sea days as well...
