trinny Posted August 14, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2016 Hi hoping someone can help with this. We are on the Grandeur of the Seas sailing out of Baltimore on 15th Sept. In Portland we fancied hiring bikes to do our own version of a brewery tour. Are there any bike hire stores near the port?
SailBadtheSinner Posted August 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2016 The closest bike rental to the dock is about 1 mile away. The name is Allspeed Cyclery & Snow, 127 Marginal Way. If you were walking, you leave the dock and find Franklin St which is just about opposite the Maine State Pier. Follow Franklin St until it intersects with Marginal Way, and take a left, or you could take a taxi. SBtS

chengkp75 Posted August 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2016 (edited) Just note that Portland is hilly, and some streets are cobblestone. You'll get a taste of the hills walking to Marginal Way. While Shipyard Brewing is close by the pier, most of the craft breweries are clustered on Industrial Way, which is about a half hour bike ride. If you're looking for brew pubs, the Great Lost Bear is one of the best, certainly the largest selection (over 70), and a short taxi ride from the port. Most of the other good brew pubs with craft beer selections are in the Old Port area adjacent to the pier.
