Out of Iowa Posted August 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2016 I just ran a mock booking, putting four of us in the same cabin. Prices show as $664, 664, 649 (3rd passenger) and 469 (4th passenger). It used to be that both the 3rd and 4th passengers paid the far lower amount. Is this a fleet-wide change? Just my bad luck for checking today? I was surprised at the total cost for the four of us. More than I've paid on previous cruises. Any tips - or shall I go look elsewhere? Fourkids4us Posted August 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2016 That happens on peak time sailings like summer and holiday weeks.
me-shel Posted August 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2016 We have four on our upcoming trip. The 3rd and 4th passengers are at an equal/lower rate. We had even originally just booked 3 people, and when we added the 4th it was at the same rate as the 3rd.
Out of Iowa Posted August 18, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted August 18, 2016 we've sailed Spring Break/Mardi Gras weeks previously without this cost-increase. It makes sense that Carnival is, perhaps, expanding what they view as "premium" weeks.

originalgeek Posted August 18, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2016 I recently did some mock bookings thinking of bringing our daughter and the third person was always half the price (or even less) of the first two. We were looking at balconies on 3 and 4 day trips out of PC, FLL and Miami if that makes any difference. Looking at sailing this Nov through next April. dhzebra Posted August 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2016 What I can't figure out is the price of a mock booking when 3rd passenger has reduced rate and the 4th passenger rate is actually more than the 3rd person. ?? Don't understand.
MtnDweller Posted August 19, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2016 It has to be a "peak" thing or supply and demand. We're cruising in October and our 3rd person rate is peanuts compared to 1st and 2nd.
SadieN Posted August 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 19, 2016 We once paid less for two doubles than a quad. Supply and Demand. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
DevCruise Posted August 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 19, 2016 I had a friend IM me today about a cruise over Christmas (yeah, I know). For her family of 4, the 3rd person was going to be like $1200. The first two passengers were about $600 each. The 4th was just under $400 if I remember right. The 3rd and 4th are an 18 month old and a 3 yr old, so not like you could put them in a cabin by themselves.

meatloafsfan Posted August 19, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2016 If I had booked my brother's cabin a month later than I did (for 4 of them), it would have only been an additional $20 to get 2 - two person cabins instead of the cabin for 4. Prices for 3rd and 4th passengers are tied to the inventory of cabins that would accommodate 3 and 4 passengers. The less of them available, the less likely the rate will be low. Well if they're going to charge you that much if I were you I would just go ahead and get a second connecting room and enjoy the increased space and bathroom availability.
