The "good" Chinese restaurants are not in Chinatown. Having said that, the only one I would recommend in Chinatown is R&G Lounge on Kearny Street

There are two levels: basement, casual dining, upstairs more formal (white table cloth, presentation a little better); same food.

 

For "dim sum" in Chinatown, I would recommend City View

It's in an alley way across the street from R&G.

If you want dim sum, go to Yank Sing in the Financial District.
