Emmaw192 Posted September 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2016 Hi all, please can anyone who has cruised on the Epic recently provide me with an idea of what times we will need to plan to be back on board by in all of the ports on the western med cruise? We are cruising in 3 weeks and I'm trying to plan out our transport options for the different ports, knowing how much time we have to play with would be a great help! Ncl emailed to say embarkation needs to be more than 2 hours prior to sailing due to security, but i was assuming that was just on day 1? Many Thanks in advance :)
Rare KeithJenner Posted September 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2016 Yes, that is only on the first day. Embarkation time is 30 minutes before departure on port days. Just be aware in Cannes that it is a tender port, so it can be busy. It's best to allow more time there.
Quilting_Cruiser Posted September 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2016 As KeithJenner said, it's 30 minutes at ports of call. I'm always back on board about an hour before sail away. Thirty minutes just isn't enough of a cushion for me, especially since I don't book excursions through the ship.

If you are arranging your own transportation remember that, especially for the Italian ports, major cities like Rome are a long way from the port and are subject to heavy traffic congestion. If you are on an NCL shore excursion and get stuck in traffic, the ship will wait for you. If you are on your own, the ship will leave port without you.
