u401226 Posted September 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Hi everyone, we are sailing on Voyager from Hong Kong in less than 2 weeks. This is our first time in a GS, so i was wondering if anybody could tell what to expect besides the perks listed here http://www.royalcaribbean.com/contentWithHero.do?pagename=enhanced_program_for_suite_guests So what kind of other things could we expect when travelling in GS, some cocktail hour with officers, behind the scenes tour etc? I am just worried, that because the majority of passengers are chinese they will forget to invite us from overseas to several happenings, and since i don't know what we should get (since it seems that everything varies from ship to ship and itinenary to itinerary) i don't know what to ask for. And there has never been an Royal Caribbean cruise which i have been on where they don't mess up something regarding loyalty programs etc... :D Thanks in advance! Clarea Posted September 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2016 Our experience has been that suite guests get invited to a cocktail party with officers. Behind the scenes tours may also be available, though you may want to speak to the Concierge about the tours.

The main difference that you will notice is with the dining room services. In Asia, there is not an early and late seating, it is open seating, no assigned tables. The head waiter was very helpful. He arranged a table for 10 for us with people that we met in the concierge lounge. Looking forward to meeting you in the CL on the 19th! :)
notsochubby Posted September 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) We just got off of this cruise on Saturday 10 Sept. Perks for us included a buffet seafood lunch on a sea day, a get together in the concierge lounge, a bridge tour, of course concierge club access and, most of all...when you are in a port when docked....one of the concierges will meet you dockside to walk you in so you don't have to wait in line. NOW...be prepared. Our ship had 2700 passengers. 2300 were Chinese Nationals...The cruise was absolutely catered to the CN. We live in HK....have for 6 years. We were not prepared for this. We were even ignored by the "future cruise" staff...asked for info and were ready to book an Alaskan cruise...but they handed us a sheet of paper and walked away. Westerners were not the target. On our cruise the main dining room was a disaster and the special restaurants were pushed to death. The concierge club was a savior to us. Still a good cruise...but...not the same Edited September 14, 2016 by notsochubby
Rare chemmo Posted September 14, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2016 We have enjoyed the cultural diversity of our Asian cruises (one RC and one Star cruises)! The biggest difference we noticed was that by 9pm the only area of the ship that was really busy was the casino! Most evenings we would do a late circuit of the deck and we wouldn't see anyone! No problem with bar service, most of them were empty. Re GS perks, as someone else said, let the conceirge know what you are interested in.
