dmwnc1959 Posted September 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2016 The large white space across from 9658 is the engine uptake that leads to the smoke stack. I found this a while back while researching the Deck 6/7 Studio Balcony cabins that will help explain: "As you already know, the major thing that made Quantum / Anthem public rooms look classy is the divided engine uptake. It is still wide on deck 6 and deck 7. Therefore less space is left for passenger cabins near engine uptakes. So studio balcony cabins are merely a byproduct of the ships planning - a limited area near engine uptakes on decks 6 and 7. Engine uptakes merge (become narrower) before they reach deck 8. Therefore cabins on deck 8 and up are regular size." The engine uptake continues all the way up to Deck 14/15. Here are the deck plans if you want to check them out: http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/RCI_Deck_Plans/Anthem_1648_Feb-1-2015.pdf :D
brabrant10 Posted September 18, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 18, 2016 Thank you dmwnc1959 -for answering my question -now if you indulge me one more question -hope it doesnt sound silly -if this space is where the engine uptake areas are at -is that section of the corridor excessively warm--any noise
dmwnc1959 Posted September 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 18, 2016 I've not been on this ship yet (booked for next September), but I have stayed in amidship cabins across from the engine uptake path on several other ships, and it's never been an issue with noise or temperature variances. I can't imagine Anthem of the Seas - being one of the most technologically advanced cruise ships in the world - would give me concern if I was staying in 9658. I am booked in 7648 (also across from the engine uptake) and I am not worried. :D
