moki'smommy Posted September 21, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2016 This is much in keeping with what they did to the platinum perks a couple years ago--everything went to a "gift with purchase" deal instead of the previous discount in the gift shops. Oh well, guess they are not making enough profit from the increases in cruise fares.
bear3412 Posted September 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) Oh my. No more $50 credit. Oh no. We won't be able to sail now. lol. We can't get a $50 credit now, oh my. All sailings are off. :p We are now devastated learning this news. My goodness, the cutbacks are endless. We will now have to sail in an inside cabin, w/o that $50 credit. Imagine the travesty. lol. OK. Perhaps that was out of line. But still humorous given DCL demographics. lol Edited September 21, 2016 by bear3412

moki'smommy Posted September 21, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2016 It's not just that the $50 credit is changing. Most of us didn't use it because it couldn't be combined with other offers (onboard booking or whatever). The point it that it is just another step in DCL reducing the offers, benefits, service levels, food quality, etc. while increasing prices. Specifically, this started as a $50 OBC that could be used on anything, then changed to $50 that must be used on beverages. Now it is changing to a % off thing. That's great IF you want the things that will be discounted...not so hot if you don't buy those items.
Got2GoGo Posted September 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2016 I was never able to use this OBC anyway. My TA said it couldn't be combined with other OBC offers and I got more for booking while on-board and from my TA. But yes, the diminishing returns as these perks fade into the sunset is becoming a pattern.
luvntony20 Posted September 23, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2016 This isn't being discontinued by Disney, it's being discontinued or changed by Chase. This was a promotion that came from them, not Disney Cruise Line.
