It is set to reopen as of November7th (which was unfortunate for us as we were supposed to stay there the night of the 6th)...most of the reviews I have read have had mixed feelings...I heard the area isn't the greatest and the hotel is a bit worn--but nothing terrible like I've heard about some of the ot her properties in FLL...We had won it for $80 so I think $59 is a good deal!

The hotel seems to have had roof damage, but there was an army working on it when I went past yesterday.

It's a bit old and tired, but it was clean and is okay as long as you're not expecting a Ritz-Carlton. The neighborhood is fine. It's across the street from a very nice beach, and 3 blocks from a Water Taxi stop (across the bridge at the Doubletree Guest Suites). There are several bars and some small restaurants in the area. It's also within walking distance to the Galleria Mall... http://www.galleriamall-fl.com/
