We are using Alamo for our drive from Orlando to port Canaveral. Do we need to call ahead to reserve a time for the shuttle from the rental car to the port?

As far as I know, the shuttles from the rental car agencies to port are first come, first served. Has Alamo told you that you need to reserve a time to take the shuttle?

We've never needed a reservation for a shuttle from any rental car company. You get there, turn in the car, and hop on the next shuttle that has room for you.

Hint--take the luggage to the cruise terminal before turning in the car (saves you transferring luggage from rental car to shuttle to porter). If the passengers are comfortable with getting out and getting in line to start the check in process, go for it--it will save time in the end. If you want to keep the group together, that's OK too. But it is easier to get on a shuttle with fewer people and less luggage. Just be sure that the driver keeps his photo ID in order to get back into the terminal area.
