I was looking at the Ultimate Drinks package and noticed, when reading through, that I would still need to pay 18% service charge.

Am I paying 18% service charge on $553? ($79 x 7 nights = $553)

Also, I was looking at the pre-paid gratuities but it also quotes that I then have to pay gratuities on other onboard purchases. What will I be paying gratuity on?

Thanks

Exactly.

From the NCL FAQ on tipping: "there is an 18% gratuity and spa service charge added for all spa and salon services, as well as an 18% gratuity and beverage service charge added for all beverage purchases and an 18% gratuity and specialty service charge added to all specialty restaurant dining and entertainment based dining."

That's how the service charge for the beverage package works if you book under US rules.

UK rules have been different, without the separate charge for the 18% on the UBP price. And no, you would NOT pay an 18% service charge on drinks that are covered by the package. Not covered by the package are canned soda, bottled water and specialty coffees. Also not included are beverages in the mini-bar unless you are in an Owners Suite or above.

Maybe that changed with the new promo?

I just got off the phone with a PCC that I trust. The program stays the same for now, but there is a $50.00 PP deposit. I'm looking at a 10 night for 2018 and that's all the deposit I need. Normally that cruise would take a $800.00 deposit.
