I think if you're happier with NCL, go with them. It's wonderful to have options. But with all your apparent issues, why are you cruising at all?

Just wait till you get onboard. They will usually offer discounts as much as 50% on port days. Sea days you can usually get 20-30%. They will usually either work the dining room the first or second night or be set up in the foyer outside of the Oceanview.

We've sailed the last 6 holidays and we've never been able to get a dining package at that time of year. We've only once been able to book New Year's Eve before sailing. This isn't an issue, we know it happens and they allow it to be booked onboard.

Sometimes a rep from the specialty restaurants will be set up near the Maitre 'D table on embarkation. They have offered packages as well as single offers. We have been approached in the Martini Bar, and most recently last month in the MDR.

I eat in the Main Dining Room. Never have any of these worries.

 

The one time I ate in Murano I was very very disappointed. Never again.

A fellow passenger told me recently that they had to pay 20% gratuities for NCL's "free" beverage package. That came to about $200 on their particular itinerary. I would call that "dollaring" their passengers to death. In their opinion, Celebrity was much fairer and a better value and experience than NCL.

 

 

They would have to pay the gratuities on every drink they paid for too if they didn't have the package. It's still a huge savings
