WorldTraveler335 Posted October 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Is it easy to take a taxi to Magen's Bay Beach from port and will there be taxi's available for the return trip? Just wondering if I should book the excursion through Norwegian. Seems like alot of money for a trip to the beach for 2 hours. Does anyone know how much a taxi for two people would cost aswell? Zooguy Posted October 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 15, 2016 Yes, taxis are available coming and going. We always figure$50 for RT cab and admission. Sent from my iPad using Forums
blue_water Posted October 16, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2016 Yes taxis are always available at both the cruise dock and the major beaches. Taxi is about $10ppmeach way and the entry fee is small. No need to take a ship excursion in this port as everything is easily accessible by the great taxi system. If there on a busy ship, or if you want a less crowded beach with natural shade and nice island views day I'd consider another nice beach like Sapphire. Take advantage of all the information that is acpvailavle on the St Thomas forum. One thread titled The Beautiful Beaches of St Thomas compares the different beaches. WorldTraveler335 Posted October 16, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted October 16, 2016 Thanks for the info. I will be looking up the thread that you mentioned and I will save myself some money by not booking through the cruise ship.
blue_water Posted October 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2016 There is one excursion through the ship that is a great one - the Champagne catamaran to St John. But for a nice beach day it's best to just taxi to a nice beach. Don't get me wrong, Magens is very nice, it's just not as nice a day as Sapphire or perhaps Coki, at least IMHO. Coki is beautiful, it just has a busier vibe because it's a small bay with several vendors. Taxi is $10pp each way to most beaches, here is a map showing the East End and other beaches. http://www.virginislandsthisweek.com/st-thomas/maps/st-thomas-island-road-map.html If you dock Havensight the East End beaches are closer to the Havensight dock, if you dock at Crown Bay Lindbergh Bay (aka Emerald Beach) is nice enough with a couple beach bars and very close.
