pridepark Posted October 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2016 Will be travelling on this cruise departing Dubai 1st march 2017 I am having trouble finding out if we need visas for UAE, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain or does the ship organise them for us. Has any of our cruise critic family done this cruise with Thomson I know RCI do the visa for you and charge your onboard account any help would be appreciated. Vitalsign Posted October 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2016 My TA advises no visas are required to be paid for - everything will be arranged by Thomson I'm on Celebration 11th January If you are doing a cruise and stay then you need to check with Thomson or your TA as you are classed as in transit when cruising but not when in a hotel and may need a Visa for Dubai
nancyneptune Posted October 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2016 If you hold a UK passport a visa is not required for Dubai whether on a cruise or hotel holiday.
Wetherby Whaler Posted February 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2017 Hello Pridepark, we have just booked this cruise for some much needed winter sun, fly out on 28th at 22.30 and arrive 9.30am on the 1st March. Never been on Celebration or to this area before so any tips would be welcome from anyone. We plan to take organised trips without independent travel so wondered how much actual cash might we need for a week, given we won't be buying alcohol:) and would US dollars be OK for all the ports? Many thanks
Vitalsign Posted February 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2017 We got back 18th Jan booked all trips with Thomson and can thoroughly recommend Dhow boat trip in Khasaba and Dubai by night which we did on our last night when we were overnighting don't think we could have done it if we'd flown Monday and done it Tuesday night though. We only took dollars and had no problem buying the odd coffee, drink and fridge magnets. Next time would definitely buy a hoho bus ticket for 3 ports everyone who used them said they were brilliant These can be purchased in the port buildings. We did a beach trip to Hilton hotel in AbuDhabi which was good but wasn't keen on the trip in Manama Bahrain to a souk and a mosque - seen better mosques elsewhere.Dollars are accepted everywhere we went and also Euros Thomson Spirit Oct 2005 Repo Palma to Sharm el Sheikh Thomson Celebration Jan 2007 Red Sea Magic Ocean Village Feb 2008 Western Caribbean & Central America Ocean Village Aug 2008 Eastern Med Ocean Village 2 Feb 2009 Eastern Caribbean Ocean Village Mar 2010 Eastern Caribbean Thomson Dream Feb 2011 Eastern Caribbean & Cuba Thomson Celebration Aug 2011 Eastern Med Thomson Celebration Apr 2012 Red Sea Magic Thomson Celebration Apr/May 2012 Repo Sharm el Sheikh to Marmaris Thomson Dream Feb 2013 Eastern Caribbean Thomson Majesty Nov/Dec 2014 Colourful Coasts Canaries Thomson Dream Jan/Feb 2015 Western Caribbean Panama & Cuba Thomson Dream Apr 2015 Transatlantic Sunset Thomson Majesty June 2015 Hellenic Classics Thomson Celebration Sept 2015 Adriatic Affair Thomson Dream Jan 2016 Mayan Treasures/Cuban Revolution Thomson Dream April 2016 Atlantic Adventure Thomson Dream June 2016 Iconic Islands/Adriatic Explorer Thomson Celebration Jan 2017 Cities of Gold Thomson Dream April2017 Atlantic Daydream Thomson Majesty Sept2017 Med Medley/Treasures of Med
Wetherby Whaler Posted February 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2017 Thank you for the quick response, very helpful and really looking forward to it now, about to hit the charity shops today to stock up on XL men's shirts to convert to modest tunics for daywear (I am female)! suekay Posted February 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2017 If you buy the hoho tickets in the cruise terminal, be sure to negotiate the price. Don't pay the first price stated by the rep. We paid a lot less than the going rate by looking interested but saying it was too expensive
