New Year's Eve--elegant night or not?

We're on Carnival Vista that leaves Miami on New Year's Eve. Is it likely that it will be casual dress that night because we embarked that day? Or should we anticipate that it will be an elegant night because it is NY Eve? We can't decide what to anticipate the dress to be for that first night.

I would anticipate the dress to be elegant that night, but since it is embarkation day, some people may not have their luggage delivered to their staterooms until later in the evening, or may not bother dressing up.

 

Dress up if you like doing so, it's New Year's Eve!

Most likely will not be a dress up night. You may not get your luggage until after dinner, that is what happened to us once.
