Princess boarding priorty at OPT

Recommended Posts

We are booked on the Golden Princess on 11 November, and received this email today. We are Elite members and in the past we were able to board about 1130 am. We are on Aloha deck which boarding is at 3pm.

PROGRESSIVE CRUISE CHECK-IN INFORMATION

To help facilitate a smooth start to your voyage we have implemented a progressive cruise check-in schedule. Please arrive at the check-in time listed below. If you have purchased a Princess Cruise Plus Package/Transfer, your check-in time will be provided at your hotel or the airport. Guests travelling on shared transport or arriving as a group will be checked in together. Priority check-in will be available to guests with a Preferred Boarding Pass within the allocated check-in times. Boarding will commence shortly after check-in. Please do not arrive prior to the start of cruise check-in as your cabin will not be ready. Once on board, enjoy a meal at Horizon Court which remains open throughout the day to serve you.

12:30 PM - Dolphin & Sun - Cabins begin with D & S

1:30 PM - Baja, Fiesta & Plaza Decks - Cabins begin with B, F & D

3:00 PM - Aloha & Lido Decks - Cabins begin with A & L

4:00 PM - Caribe & Emerald Decks - Cabins begin with C & E

My question is Princess or Abercombie and Kent {the agents contracted as check in agents for Princess} are strictly sticking to these times or will be able to board earlier as in the past.

Appreciate your advice

Our last cruise we went on which we received the same email (in April) had no change to the priority boarding for suite or elite passengers. They were still able to board at whatever time they arrived as per the normal priority system. In fact the same went for all passengers, it was boarding as normal regardless of when you turned up, no word of anyone being turned away.

Guess we will find out on the 11th, see you there ;)

normally the times are not enforced unless they are having a clean for noro, in Melbourne on one cruise last april with the Golden no one could board before 2pm seeing they were having a thorough clean and i hope thats not the same

We turned up about 11:15am (our offficial recommended time was 2pm) and went straight through the check-in. Princess allocates you to a boarding group - priority have alpha codes, the rest have numbers. We were group B. We barely had time to fill in our departure card when they started calling the groups for boarding. there is a 5-10 minute gap between each group. We were onboard before noon. This was on Sun Princess last month.

Different procedures for the smaller SUN, DAWN and SEA .

With GOLDEN they send that e mail to everyone with Deck specific boarding times BUT

those with Priority Boarding can turn up anytime from the starting time .

The key words from the advice mail ........ " Priority check-in will be available to guests with a Preferred Boarding Pass within the allocated check-in times."

Our email had those key words for our Sun cruise. They didn't enforce it.

We had a similar arrangement with Diamond Princess check in. We were dependant on our travel arrangements which had us arriving earlier (around midday) instead of the 3.00 pm boarding. In this time frame were told we could have priority boarding.

We were to book in our luggage early with the intention of lunching in the Rocks. But as we got out of our taxi we were told (very nicely I might add) by the Rep to book in our luggage and then head straight to the priority line.

We were aboard in minutes. And it was at the height of the OPT renovations.

Oh good! My cousins' property is about 2 hours drive from the OPT, so this information helps this newbie cruiser tremendously. In 13 days time we'll be aboard, and out the Heads cruising to Melbourne!

In a week I start my holiday, visiting an aunt before travelling to Sydney and being transferred to my cousins' place.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Is there a specific place to meet for Sailaway?
