Things to Remember or do for new cruisers

You also can order more than one thing off the menu in the dinning room. So if you see 2 appetizers you want to try, feel free to order both. A lot of people go overboard and end up wasting food so maybe it's best to share if possible.

Carnival beds are pretty comfy, but if you aren't comfortable, ask you steward for a mattress pillow.

Green apples for sea sickness. Just ask for them and they will cut up a plate full. Make sure they are the green ones though.

If you plan on using the spa go early to make a reservation. Different times/day are different prices so if it fits in you schedule, you are better off paying less.

Instead of heading straight to the buffet when you board, find out if any of the restaurants are open for service. Some ships do this.

Don't be late for the ship....sounds simple, but so many people do it. They will not wait and you will be on video on a lot of peoples personal social media sites running for the ship as it sails away.

Have fun, and go with the flow! :D

Don't try and do everything! You'll just end up exhausted. Don't let people get on you for spending time in your room. It's YOUR vacation!

This. Relax. It's like going to WDW; you simply can't do it all. Now that CCL has made the HUB app and has the consolidated column list of the day's activities, just take in a few things and make time every day to stop and watch the sea, and at night, the stars.

Use sunscreen! Don't forget to reapply. A sunburn early on the cruise is not fun!! If you only walk around town in port, wear comfortable shoes and socks. Blisters are not fun either. We took a small battery operated fan on one cruise and it came in handy at night for "white noise."

Take advantage of the $15 bag-o-laundry around the end of the cruise, it makes returning home post cruise easier.

DH & I always get Cheers and find we break even at only 5-6 premium drinks/day - so worth it! Plus it now includes premium coffees, milkshakes, waters, etc.

We stay onboard for at least one port each cruise. It's very relaxing and you have the ship & staff to yourselves!

Take a limited amount each day per person for the casino. Our policy is $20/person/day. If we win over $100, we quit & cash out. We always come home with money and once we paid for the whole cruise!

I use a coupon/envelope plastic expanding file from Office Depot to have all papers, reservations, extra money tabbed for the cruise in one place and it fits in the safe during the cruise.

My wife made fun of me for packing so many medications. She said I looked like I was starting a pharmacy.

I had everything you could think of: tums, pepto, motion sickness, cold cough, sinus, Tylenol, excedrin etc.

The reason being my first cruise I had a headache and wanted to take Motrin...the price for a trial pack on the ship was nuts.

Come to find out, my wife got sick (upper respiratory infection, not sure if she got it on cruise or at work as she deals with sick people daily). My over preparation saved our cruise because she was a little less miserable using the meds I brought. [emoji23]

I have a bag I take on every cruise. I call it my apothecary. I have remedies for most common ailments: pain relievers, stomach relievers: zantac, immodium, pepto, tums; cold medicines: cough syrup in tablet form, antihistimines, decongestants; bandaids and neosporin.

After reading horror stories of people being quarantined, I make sure I have just about anything i need.

Is it true that men get colds and women get upper respiratory infections?

Clothes pins. If there's a line in your shower or tub, your bathing suit may dry a little faster if it's hung to dry, rather than just folded over the line. Also use those big towel clips (Boca clips) to secure a suit to a balcony chair. I push the chair as far back as I can towards the cabin. Don't want to see it flying away!
