Junkanoo or Hilton?

We are cruising with the kids in March and really like the idea of just walking from port on our own time to have a beach day, browse some shops, etc.

Of course I've read some comments about Junkanoo being trashy with some shady characters and that has me concerned. But is the BC Hilton that much better to be worth over $200 for a family of 4? It seems to be basically the same beach without locals and a very small area as well.

Can anyone weigh in on this?

Thanks!!

a beach is a beach is a beach...but Junkanoo is a tradition! (could you do both?) Had I not been to Junkanoo on a previous cruise, that's what I choose hands down!
