KPfromCT Posted November 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Happy Friday all!!!!:D:D Hubby and I are contemplating the Cheers program, for our 8 night cruise on the Magic, next June.:D He LOVES his scotch and cigars... Does anyone know which brands of scotch they have? Also, I know the program covers up to a $50 limit per drink, and read somewhere that the Steakhouse bar, and possibly the Casino bar, have higher end scotches. He's just wondering what might be available to him. I will do just FINE with the frozen "girly" drinks.:D Thanks!!!!
ohioblue52 Posted November 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Not sure cheers covers $50 drinks, and I'm pretty positive you can't smoke a cigar INSIDE the ship on Carnival, only in designated areas on open decks (open decks are outside in the wind) If I'm wrong please let me know, I would love to smoke a cigar with a nice bourbon or scotch, but not out in that night time wind. Sure miss my cigars, bourbon and fruit on the balcony before dinner. Non smoking balconies have sent much of our vacation budget to other options than cruises. Yes, on the Cheers program, you can order a drink that costs UP TO $50.00 Yes, no smoking inside ANYWHERE, but in the designated smoking areas. RjayB Posted November 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2016 Not to go off on a tangent, but it should be noted that Cigar smoking areas are MORE restricted than cigarette smoking areas. As an ex-cigarette smoker (cant stand the smell anymore) but an occasional (rare) cigar smoker I get the worst of both worlds. :p

Jl154 Posted November 12, 2016 #12 Share Posted November 12, 2016 I'm a Johnnie Walker fan. Black is not my favorite, but that will be fine for this upcoming cruise. MasterMason Posted November 12, 2016 #13 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Here's a useful response: There are cigar bars located on MOST Carnival ships, however Carnival Magic, and Dream don't have one. Scotch available: Chivas Regal Brothers Blend Johnnie Walker Black Dewar's Chivas Regal Dewar's White Label Cutty Shark Single Malt: Glenlivet Master Distillers Reserve Macallan Select Oak Ardbeg 10 Year Bowmore 12 Year Glenfiddich 12 Year Glenmorangie 10 Year There are some more that are only available at the Steakhouse Bar, and you don't have to have a reservation to order from there. I hope this helps.

Not saying it's $50/drink but it is more expensive (if they even still serve it at the bars) Does anyone know the cost for Blue Label

ohioblue52 Posted November 12, 2016 #17 Share Posted November 12, 2016 Here's a useful response: There are cigar bars located on MOST Carnival ships, however Carnival Magic, and Dream don't have one. I will have to do some further research. Seems like the cigar bars are quietly disappearing from all ships, at least in CCL's fleet. If I remember correctly there was no cigar smoking on inside decks on the last couple Carnival cruises we've been on. We will be on the Glory in Feb. I am hoping to take a cigar that was given to me by a friend. He bought it on the Glory 10 or 12 years ago because I traded him weeks of vacation so he and his family could take the cruise. Been in my humidor ever since.
KPfromCT Posted November 12, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted November 12, 2016 I read a few months back that John Heald was trying to get the ships to hold a "Cigars under the Stars" night. One night per cruise, up on Serenity, People could go up there and smoke their cigars. Not sure if it's in full swing, or if it ever even came to...... Regardless, you CAN smoke cigars in the normal smoking areas, outside on the decks.:D:D

ohioblue52 Posted November 13, 2016 #24 Share Posted November 13, 2016 I have seen it in certain bars in the past. Not sure if it is still offered. Seems like the price was maybe $14.00 for a single.
ohioblue52 Posted November 13, 2016 #25 Share Posted November 13, 2016 I usually price match and get a bottle from the fun shop, but the shore side prices are aligning closer to onboard prices.
