Any swimming within walking distance of the Coxen Hole pier?

My DH, DD (9) and I are coming in on the Norwegian Getaway and I think it docks at Coxen Hole. We have a limited budget, but I want to get off the ship and go swimming in the ocean! Taxis to any beach seem to be about $25pp, and that's a large chunk of money for us. Is there anything in the area, or are we stuck browsing the tourist traps and heading back to the ship?

Not really. Probably your closest bet is Las Palmas across from the airport. last I saw, taxi fare from Coxen Hole to the airport was around $5. But there are at least 3 levels of taxi prices in Roatan from lowest to highest: one for locals, one local tourists/vacationers, and one for cruise ship passengers.

Thanks for the reply! Good to know, I guess we'll wing it at the port, get all the tourist gawks out of the way. This will be my daughter's first time on international soil!

I don't believe that $25pp taxi price is correct. We were just at Mahogany Bay and the taxi to West Bay was $20 per person and Mahogany Bay is much further away than Coxen Hole. I have seen Coxen Hole and can say with confidence that you will be much happier spending the money going to a place like West Bay.
