Port Liberty Information

It turns out the only ride we can get to Port Liberty 11/10 will leave us there at 10:30 AM. I know they usually board early but that's not a guarantee and 10:30 is really early for a 2PM scheduled boarding time. I'm not familiar with that terminal. Will there be a sheltered place we will be able to wait since the long range forecast is for showers? Wil our luggage be taken as we arrive or is that too early even for the baggage handlers? Thanks.

You will be arriving when the others are disembarking and it will be a little chaotic-the front entrance is covered-I would recommend that you unload the bags and wait till you see a porter that has an empty cart and grab him-everyone disembarks thru a different entrance than the one you checkin at but they are close together-when you arrive have patience

The front part of the building where you check in has a large covered area so you won't get wet-just unload your bags and stay out of the way till a porter comes free-the check in area has seats on the other side of where you check in so you can wait comfortably until the buses are ready to take you to the ship-just remind your driver that it will be crowded when you arrive

We will be leaving out of Port Liberty next year but I do have a question. Which airport do you fly into and is it a long drive from the airport to the terminal?

You fly into Newark which is just across Newark Bay from the terminal in Bayonne via the NJTP bridge. Its about a 10 to 15 minute drive via cab or shuttle.

A taxi from the airport runs about $36 before tip.

Cape Liberty Pier

We arrived at the pier about 11:20 am. We tipped the baggage handlers $10 for 4 bags and proceeded into the building. Security and check-in went very quickly and smoothly. It helped that we completed all of our documentation online before we left home. We had our pictures taken twice: once for a debarkation souvenir opportunity and once to imprint our mugs electronically on our cruise cards for use on the ship and when leaving and returning to the ship. There is a large waiting area with chairs and tables. When our number was called we proceeded to a bus which took us to the ship where we climbed two flights of stairs to board on Deck 5. (Folks unable to climb stairs enter on Deck 3). We were on the ship within 25 minutes of our arrival at the pier. Rooms were ready at 1:00 pm.

I agree with everything CarribeanBound says except one item-on the 10/17 sailing of Constellation, everyone boarded the ship on level one-no stairs to climb-you are greeted with champagne or orange juice and escorted to your room-elevators are right there

I did a travel agent walk through last week (no ... I'm not a travel agent... just friend's with one...)

There were people in the terminal (heated, refreshments, bathrooms) waiting to be checked in at 10 am.

Around 11 am, they brought the passengers from the terminal, to the check in lines, and they began to board around 12 ish...

Keep in mind that the ship was 1 hour late... so everything was delayed.
