Ocean Players Club - now aboard Princess ships

On the April 5th Regal Princess cruise to Hawaii we noticed that the dealers in the casino were wearing “Ocean Player Club” logos on their shirts. This was interesting to me because in the past Princess has gone to great lengths to distance it’s self from the Ocean Player Club. Turns out to be a Carnival Corp. initiative.

For those that don’t know what O.P.C. is, it is a “club” or method for casino players who play certain games at higher levels to become “rated” by the cruise line casino staff and earn point for future cruises.

Like most casinos, to join the club is free In order to qualify for membership, a player must:
Be eighteen years old or older.
Maintain a minimum average bet of $25 or more.
Play for a minimum 2 hours per day.
“Failure to meet all three requirements will result in no ratings for that trip but will not cancel the membership.”

I am not sure that OPC will enhance or detract from the overall cruise experience. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
