Quick Thanksgiving Breeze Review

Since I get to "extend" my vacation due to a sore throat and sinus infection, I am going to write a quick review of the Breeze for Thanksgiving week.

The good-

Staff -I found the staff to be friendly. Our cabin steward Nair was great and always greeted us by name.

Bartenders were awesome. My husband had cheers and he always tipped 1-2 extra dollars per drink. His drinks were strong. David at the Casino bar was my husbands favorite. Also had a great bartender at Red Frog Pub, but cant remember his name.

Casino- Not bad. I left with almost 800 "points", but didn't loss that much overall. Same for my husband. Only mistake we made was playing roulette. We didn't realize the chips were 2 dollars a piece, and were betting 20 bucks per hand.. Luckily I hit a few times and we walked away 20 dollars up from the table. Slots were not as tight as I thought they would be, so that was good too.

Food- Loved the MDR although we missed the second formal night. I am not a fan of dressing up, so I wasn't too disappointed. Thought the prime rib, zucchini fritters , lasagna, breakfast steak and eggs and mac and cheese were the best. Guys Burger and Pizza Pirate were as good as usual, but I found Blue Iguana to be hit or miss. Lunch at the Italian restaurant was excellent as well. Don't miss that. The buffet was good, basic food, nothing out of the ordinary. Also had barbeque on Seaday. That was good too.

The ship- loved the lay out and LOVED the 5th floor. I cant imagine going back to a smaller ship now that we have been on the Breeze. The water slides were fun and we enjoyed the hot tubs on deck 5. Ocean Plaza had a lot of fun activities. We even won 2 ships on a stick playing and winning at corn hole.

Activities- I felt like there was always something going on. Music playing, trivia, shows... always something to do. We didn't do much on the Lido deck, as I am more of a low key person. We did one comedy show, which was funny.

Kids club- this falls into good and bad. The kids enjoyed themselves and the Circle C director was my daughters favorite. They both had a good time. BUT-there was a lot of kids misbehaving.

Ports- Cozumel is Cozumel. Its a great port to do nothing if you don't plan an excursion. We did some shopping and then went back on the ship and enjoyed having the ship to ourselves.

Belize- We did Shark Ray Alley and Caye Caulker through Coral Breeze tours. Highly recommend Coral Breeze. My younger daughter and I stayed on Caye Caulker while my husband and older daughter snorkeled. There is not much to do on the Island but eat and shop. We enjoyed walking around, but an hour and a half was enough time to see pretty much the whole island. My husband and older daughter raved about the snorkeling. Thinking back, I should have stayed on the tour boat and watched them snorkel.

Mahogany Bay-beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I had had my heart set on Little French Key, but the weather looked iffy and it was too expensive of an excursion to risk not enjoying it. The free beach at Mahogany Bay was beautiful. Getting to spend time there eased by disappointment of not going to Little French Key.

Ok-Now the bad

The décor. I hated some of the interior areas of the ship. I didn't enjoy the décor of the lobby. I thought the dining rooms were plain as well as Ocean Plaza. I enjoyed the décor of the Triumph and the Fantasy more. I did like the casino décor, the showroom, the Piano Bar and the Limelight Lounge. They were pretty to me.

Kids, kids, kids- I had 2 teens with me, so I don't have a problem with kids. But-some of the kids were out of control. Pressing all the buttons of the elevators, running throughout the ship. I heard stories of kids drinking and walked into the O2 club to overhear a conversation about sex. Not to mention dishes, cups and food just thrown on the floor in random spots. Yuck!!

Tendering in Belize- what a pain in the arse. Long tedious process of hurry up and wait. Long ride to the pier, which was not as nice as Cozumel or Mahogany Bay. Our excursion was great, but I would probably stay on the ship if I didn't have an excursion booked.

Those were my only negatives.

Overall, I had a great time. Next cruise-the Dream in April

We were on this same cruise. My 15 yr old son went to Club O2 once. I asked why he didn't want to go back. His response, "I think the kids in there are a little too fast for me. They talk a lot about a lot of things they shouldn't know about."

I agree about the tendering in Belize, it was horrible. Took forever, I was afraid we were going to miss our excursion. We did cave tubing and ziplining with ButtsUp. Great company, we had a really good time. Book an excusion in Belize, otherwise just stay on the ship. Really not worth going to otherwise.

Just a few questions. The Coral Breeze tour in Belize looks like something I would like. I was looking at Carnival's cost for a very similar excursion and I could save about $25 to $30 per person(adult). I am always afraid of the time constraints and I know when on a Carnival tour I have no need to worry about getting back. Can you give me a little more details how the process worked for this excursion?

Good morning,

I too was a little nevous and almost cancelled. I am glad I didnt. We had a full boat from the Breeze and met another group off the Glory as well. These people know what they are doing and it never crossed my mind while on the excursion that we may not make it back.

When we got off at the port, we meet the Coral Breeze rep at pier 4. We waited a few minutes for the rest of the group. The snorkelers were fitted for flippers, we loaded the tour boat and then went. The ride seemed long, but the guides were spotting dolphin pods and pulling over for us to watch them. We saw dolphins mating. Quite a site. :) :). My younger daughter and I got off in Caye Caulker and walked around. Wet met up with the group at a restaurant. The tour guides bring you to the restaurant first to order and food is ready when you return. Honestly, there are lots of other restaurants to consider on the island too. After eating you get a little time to walk around. We headed back and arrived back at the pier around 3:15. We shopped really quick then waited on the long line to tender back to the ship.

It was a great experience overall and I would recommend it. Again, never once was a worried we would miss the ship. I would suggest that you get down to the lounge to get your tender tickets to get off the ship ASAP in the morning. The tend r in process is long and tedious. I was not a fan of tendering at all.

Thank you for your review.

I did the Coral Breeze tour in October and the tour will wait for you to get off the ship. The tender process was long and we didn't think we were going to make it. The rep said it happens all the time and they wait. Just remember to try and get off the ship as quick as the ship will allow.
