MikeyBCH Posted November 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Hello 2 months ago I had my first cruise and it was great. More about that later. The next one is coming for sure. But I got a question: How is Costa acting towards radios? I am talking about PMR (so where you can broadcast at a low power). That would be great to stay in contact. But even more, I would like to take a radio that can receive (not broadcast) on VHF. I would like to know what that ship is broadcasting to the port. Now the question: How cool is Costa about radios. I mean I could put it in my bag that will be broght to the cabin. But what if I have it in my hand luggage and walk trough security? At one port (I think it was Lisbon) I think radios were listed as forbidden items.
Dancer Bob Posted December 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) As far as I know, radios are permitted, but I believe they don't work very well on board unless you're on open deck. On land, it's possible some Port Authorities might have weird rules, but don't know of any. Costa has an app you can download to use the ship's system to stay in contact, although I've never used it myself.
