NCL first timer after only RCL

Tomorrow will be our first time onboard an NCL cruise after 12 cruises on RCL. I have made the check-in 2 days ago and during the process they ask me about the time that I will be at the pier for boarding. The earliest time available was from 4:30 to 5pm.

I want to know, if I arrive early than that, they will not allowed us to board the ship? It is that strict?

We went on our first NCL on Veterans Day. We had an earlier boarding time, but others had later and showed up and got on fine.

Yes. Selection of boarding times are first-come-first-serve and check-in for your cruise has been open for over a year.

You can arrive at the port at any time.

General boarding will start around 11:30.

It is considered your Day 1 so I completely understand! It was our first NCL and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We are not loyal to them as we had great cruises with RCCL and Carnival too. I will share another thing we learned though. Freestyle dining is amazing, but just know if you find a server you like you can easily keep requesting them for future evenings. We found this out after a few not-so-great dining situations and once we found an amazing one tipped her additional and spoke to the Maitre D who informed us we can always come and request her the other evenings.
