Clarea Posted December 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2016 Best place to ask this is the Florida Departures forum here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Capt_BJ Posted December 7, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2016 The are no rental offices at the port. The port is on an island and there are no rental offices on the island. Some companies have small offices downtown but IMO you will be better off just renting from an airport location. The larger rental companies run free shuttles from the port to the airport ... you just need to show your confirmation number ... There is no 'magic place' to get the best rate ... car rental rates are AT LEAST as dynamic as airline flight prices! Look for 'codes' from your insurance, AAA, COSTCO (etc), the Church, visiting aliens .... everywhere .... Priceline and other travel discount sites can work. That's how I book 'em most of the time .... but verify where the office is b4 you commit else you could end up needing a taxi to get to the office increasing your cost. you can also look to the FL forum but this is the basic answer to your question. hun Posted December 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2016 Can you rent a car after the cruise at Miami cruise port and who to call for best rate. Yes, this is possible, we've done it and driven to MCO for our flights from Miami. There are car rental agencies (Alamo, Budget and perhaps Hertz come to mind) that will shuttle you to and from the ship/port. If you're renting the car for a one-way rental, check to be sure there's no additional one-way drop off fee. We've had good luck with both Alamo and Budget, but depends on whatever special rates to which you may be entitled (AAA, Sam's, Costco, government) Good luck!
