Depending on if you are going to Caye Caulker or San Pedro. In Caye Caulker the island is so small I would take a short walk to town. San pedro is much larger and you can rent a golf cart close to the water taxi or air strip depending on how you arrive to the island The carts will be close to $50 US

for the day

Going to Belize Dec 31 . Was thinking of just getting off boat and renting a golf cart and touring island on own. Has anyone done this. or any better ideas. I just had surgery Nov 29 so I can't do many excursions.

Were you talking about getting off the boat in Belize City? Or taking the water taxi to Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye like Wade was mentioning.

If the former, 1) Belize is a country on the mainland of Central America, not an island. 2) there are no golf cart rentals for going around Belize City. You'll need to hire a taxi for a city tour or find a ship excursion that doesn't require a lot of walking.
