Rln12280 Posted December 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2016 Going to Belize Dec 31 . Was thinking of just getting off boat and renting a golf cart and touring island on own. Has anyone done this. or any better ideas. I just had surgery Nov 29 so I can't do many excursions.
wadethegringo Posted December 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2016 Depending on if you are going to Caye Caulker or San Pedro. In Caye Caulker the island is so small I would take a short walk to town. San pedro is much larger and you can rent a golf cart close to the water taxi or air strip depending on how you arrive to the island The carts will be close to $50 US for the day

Or taking the water taxi to Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye like Wade was mentioning. If the former, 1) Belize is a country on the mainland of Central America, not an island. 2) there are no golf cart rentals for going around Belize City. You'll need to hire a taxi for a city tour or find a ship excursion that doesn't require a lot of walking.

Rare crewsweeper Posted December 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2016 You will anchor out of Belize City and to reach land, take a tender in the port. This is what all ships do. Ship tenders do not go to Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye (San Pedro).
OCruisers Posted December 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 12, 2016 Your port stop will be at Belize City. It's a port stop where you'll probably want to book an excursion either thru the ship or with and independent.
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 12, 2016 As for another idea....one option might be to head out side the cruise port terminal and flag down a horse drawn carriage for a city tour. There are some threads on this board where others have mentioned their experiences.
