My Jade Observations

The following is my opinion only. Some may have different opinions and that's why it's called "opinions"

We stayed in Garden Villa 14500. Sailed out of Tampa. Great suite check in. Different from my experience on the Gem. Much better in Tampa. Our suite was ready immediately and we went straight up at 11:30.

Our butler was Pedro. He was ok very nice man. He did what we asked never above and beyond did not take any initiave i.e. When we dined in on thr last night on the Gem in our GV our butler decorated the table with flower petals and was beautiful. Our in suite dinner on thr Jade he set the table with no extra nice touches. Did this ruin our dinner? Heck no just something to compare. Don't get me wrong I have no complaints about him but if your looking for someone to go above and beyond what you ask for you might have a problem. We did not. Our room steward was Jorge. He was fabulous. So much so we left a hero card for him. He was always smiling and singing. He left me a towel animal every single night and did the same for the other 2 bedrooms therefore he made 21 towel animals. Omar the Concierge was fabulous. He checked on us every day sometimes more than once. Made all our reservations for us. Hugs every time he saw us. He was the best. He also received a hero card. All three were left generous cash tips from us.

The decor needs updating for sure. Very Hawaii themed. I didn't care for casino layout. Only one UTH table one 3 card poker table and one let it ride table. The good thing was they were all $5 tables.

Dining - we had all the old menus which I very much preferred. They have not updated the new menus yet. We ate at blue lagoon the first night. It was good pub type food. We had reservations for 5:30 at LaCucina but when we got there we were told they didn't open till 6 so we called Omar and told him we were going to blue lagoon. He apologized profusely and a bottle of win showed up at blue lagoon and then he appeared apologized again. 2nd night was Tepanyaki which is my favorite show and food great. 3rd night was Le Bistro. Mushroom soup is out of this world. I had the filet and it was good. 4th night was Jasmine Asian and was ok 5th night was LaCucina and very good. I had pork Marsala and enjoyed it. 6th night was Cagney. Service was not good at all. I had the 8 oz filet and Sally and Gretchen orders the 5 oz. the 5 oz looked like 2 1/2 very very small. I enjoyed mine but thr girls did not like theirs at all. The last night we did in suite and we ordered from Le Bistro and MDR. I had the ribeye which was very tasty and mindi ordered the lobster which she wasn't a fan of she said it had no taste. Overall food was good and service was hit or miss.

Ports - Cozumel we were invited to a casinos at sea beach party and it was a nice outing. Free drinks and food and transport. Costa Maya we went to Maya Chan HIGHLY recommended. $50 includes transport by taxis (half hour bumpy ride) unlimited drinks and taco buffet lunch with steak, chicken, fish and pork. Also group had their own day bed and hammocks and palapa. They had sit on floating seats for ocean and waiters brought your drinks out to you. Free wifi also. Next was roatan we opted to just get off the ship at port and so a little shopping. No excursions were done it was I'm going to enjoy our private hot tub and villa day. Last was harvest caye belieze. We had the beach cabana which was pricy for the amount of time there 7:30 - 12:30. I had fallen at th end of the day which is another story I posted about on another thread. It was a nice itinerary.

Truly enjoyed this cruise my girlfriends made it all that much more special. And of course being in a Garden Villa doesn't hurt.

Thank you for sharing the pros and cons. I am looking forward to the jade in january. We don't know if we will do a third Jade in 2018 or try for Bliss in summer 2018.

I am sure that the GV is fantastic, maybe someday this will be a possibility if we ever get al the kids and grand kids in one place.

Do the restaurants not open at 5:30? I have reservations for 5:30 a few of the nights. I made the reservations online. Why would they offer 5:30 if they don't open then?

They said because it was the first night they opened at 6. They were supposed to open at 5:30. That's why we had reserved 5:30 and Omar made the reservation. Must have been a glitch the first night.
