Long wait in San Juan

We have a 6:30 pm flight after disembarking on the Sat. after Thanksgiving. Having spent time at this airport in the past, will do anything to prevent having to do it again. The excursions offered by the cruise line don't seem too exciting. Would much rather go to a hotel. Any suggestions? Thanks

I looked into "day rates" a while back - but ended up changing our flight to 3:07 (need to be at airport by 1:00) and didnt find a whole lot. I know there are hotels that will do a day room but still expensive (like $100.00) You might try doing a search for this .... or just call 800 #'s one day. GOOD LUCK. We will be there Thanksgiving Day for 2 night precruise !! Can't wait.

I have tried to book a day room at a number of hotels since we have a 5:30PM flight the Saturday we return. They have all told me they offer day rates but only a day or two before arrival since they only use unbooked rooms. None of them will book ahead of time. We plan to leave a list of phone numbers behind and have a family member call and book us something and when we get to San Juan we will make one call home to find out where we are going.

By the way, someone posted the website for the restaurant Barrachini where they will store cruise passengers' luggage 9-5 for free. That leaves you fere to go shop, tour, or whatever. I assume it's reliable and safe since it's a well known restaurant.

A few years back we called the El San Juan Hotel-from the dock after disembarking-they gave us an oceanview day suite for $75.

My DH & DS crashed-called room service and watched ESPN and I went to the pool and beach-It was wonderful!

They also have a beautiful casino.

Last year we checked our luggage at the airport early, aound 11:00 for a 5:00 flight on ATA...couldn't believe they let us, then took a taxi back over to the beach for the afternoon. I don't know if that is still being done or not, but it worked for us.
