BTW, I think the Atrium looks fantastic in your pictures. I have heard others complain about it.

Also, is the water warm in the pools and hot tubs just cold for the slides?

I don't think the complaints was about the beauty. It was more about the size. It does not go as high up as the other ships.

You may not want to skip it for dinner and paying either. Look the OP didn't like the lasagna, but her crew enjoyed their dishes. As you've pointed out, there are many different dishes to chose from. On the Breeze the Mama's (?) meatballs were excellent and were several other dishes. Service may or may not be good anywhere, depends on the waitstaff serving you. We've had both great and lousy service in the MDR for seated dining, your time dining, Steakhouse, Ji-Jis. Bonshi Sushi, bars. etc.

I agree. It's only the lunch lasagna that I disliked. Never tried Cap's for dinner but just saw another Vista review that gave it high praise and the food porn made the dishes look very appealing. The $15. surcharge sounds like a bargain. Problem for me is that I always find something in the MDR and I'm not bashful to request something else when I'm not happy. So I really haven't felt the need to go elsewhere for dinner.

Don't skip it at lunch!! Doesn't cost extra at that time and you get a great choice of pastas, sauces, proteins and vegetables. The bow tie pasta with clam sauce or butter with shrimp and chicken is awesome! I add spinach and grape tomatoes to mine also. Try it at least once.

Cucina portions are huge!

I had lasagna on Legend and it was horrible. CC folks were saying how good it was on different ships so I thought I'd try it again on Legend and it was terrific! I thought something's wrong here, or right really. Checked and they had a new chef.

BTW Best place to eat in South Florida is Shorty's BBQ.

Hi all, sorry haven't had time to check in today, but clearly hectic on the first day with check in, unpacking and exploring. Just got back to our room so I have a lot of goodies to share.

First impression-the ship is beautiful and brand spankin new so not much to criticize. Check in at port was fast. Room key now laced in your mailbox instead of at check on n.

So let's start with some pics!

First close up of the Vista-from 3rd story parking across from the port.

First thing you see when you walk in, beautiful!

It's clearly Christmas time!

Loving your review, will be on her in a few weeks. I have a question, you said checkin in was fast. May I ask What time checkin time did you choose for staggered checkin and how long did you wait in line outside to get in? did you arrive at the port at your check in time a little earlier or later? Reason I am asking is because ever since the Vista got to Miami many people have complained that it took them two hours in line to get in. so I was just wondering. Thanks

I didn't think Legend had a Cucina. If you are referring to the lasagna in the mdr, I think that is made from a different recipe. I wouldn't be surprised if that one is better.

Thanks for the heads up about Capitano. I saw another recent poor review of the food there so I will save my time and money instead.

I think it was just my choice, the lasagna that I didn't care for. I sampled my moms alfredo sauce and it was very good. My dad got the clam sauce and he loved it.

Yes you will not find the 10 story high atrium like on older ships and it is smaller on the Vista but I will add the LCD feature gives the perception of it being grand. I don't think it felt small.

I had an 11:30 time, arrived around 11:20, check in seemed orderly to me, we went right through.

So last nights dinner in the mdr was not great. Btw, we haven't had waits for the YTD other than that first elegant night. If you arrive by 6pm it's fine.

This morning we arrived in SAN Juan

5dc58d4e3de5fbb9452dce9665056db3.jpg

We got a late start this morning since we stayed out late last night, here was breakfast

6f13e29dad89bf1477e089292e2b203c.jpg

We stayed onboard and decided to try the Skyride. There was a 30 min wait but since we weren't getting off the ship it was fine. I enjoyed it, my DD got a little scared as you do need to use your leg muscles and it wasn't that easy, there is also an incline that you have to push through as well as decline that tips your ride, that was kind of fun. The views were great

We also spent some time in the arcade today and just walked around the ship. More people onboard today than yesterday' I guess SAN Juan isn't as popular a port as St Maarten.

Tonight is another elegant night and Flick at the show lounge, stay tuned. [emoji41]

While the menu itself sounds good, even your pics don't look so appetizing.

That would be an alt dining option for me. JiJi's?

Added to say, but any dinner with grand marnier soufflé will be attended!!

MAGIC was in port with us, I'll be on her next winter break for NYE .

So since we were the second ship to dock, there were no lounges available so I had to settle for this

Later on though I was able to snag one.

I did the ocean, sun bathe, ocean, sunbathe, rinse repeat. Water temp was perfect not too cold and not warm. The beach was packed.

After I finished my drink I did some shopping.

As I said it was a glorious day, I had the day all to myself, moms need this every now and then and my DD got to spend some quality time with her grandparents, (and probably drove them cray cray lol)

This is an awesome review! I love the fact that you are on the ship as you post it. Thank you!!!

My family will port out on Vista January 22nd. The number one "to do" on my list is always "find the ship's coin". If you've seen it and have a picture please post it. I don't really want to know exactly where it is because that's part of the fun having to search for it.

Thanks again for doing this! It's great!!!!!!

KBCruiseLover - We'll be on Vista on Jan 22nd too!! Can't wait and hope to see you there!! :) :) :)

Thank you so much for the awesome review that you're doing live from the ship. Your pictures are amazing! I'm so excited seeing all of this. We'll be on the ship in 23 days. It's so much fun seeing all of this while I'm enjoying the anticipation. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your cruise!

Btw the jewelry is made from conch shells, coconut shells and the blue is a stone indigenous to the Caribbean.

That blue stone might be larimar which is only found in the Dominican Republic.
