misscolina Posted December 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2016 We have just received our luggage tags and it states on them 20kg maximum per bag. Has anyone had an experience with Cunard if your bag is 23kgs? I know in Southampton they aren't too strict but we are joing the QM2 in Cape Town and we have 23kgs of luggage as allowed by the airline, so it is a little frustrating if we have to take an extra bag if Cunard's bag handlers only allow 20kgs. Thanks
Toffeegirl68 Posted December 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2016 From the UK site: Weight Restrictions Each case may weigh a maximum of 23kg due to health and safety reasons. If an individual piece of luggage exceeds 23kg at embarkation you will be recalled to the terminal and asked to remove items or repack your bags. Your baggage may also be delayed at disembarkation if you exceed this limit.

Thanks The luggage allowances on Cunard are based on Health and Safety of people lifting the bag. They will allow you to take several bags if you wish but do not accurately weigh each bag. In my experience they will only pull off bags if they are ridiculously heavy. Whatever bag weight you can get onto an aircraft will be acceptable to the cruise line. So 23 kgs will be easily accepted by the cruise line. Regards John Edited December 18, 2016 by john watson
hihilo Posted December 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2016 Another option is to take less. CUNARDS fabulous ships have wonderful laundromats. I go with only carry-ons,,, + manage just fine. Just a thought.
misscolina Posted December 21, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted December 21, 2016 Thank you for your posts, I will go with the 23kgs as allowed by the airline. We have never experienced a weight indication on our cruise luggage tags before.
