Host Caroline Posted June 15, 2004 Author #77 Share Posted June 15, 2004 PRE-CRUISE HOTEL & GROUP TOURS... How many would be intereted in a 2-night precruise package in Seattle? If there are enough I'll start on that.. Also I have a friend who brokers tours but gives really good rates.. would you prefer indivdiual options in each port or a "package" i.e.. for $200 pp you could pick from any two of four tours????? Just a thought.... Lynda90 Posted June 15, 2004 #78 Share Posted June 15, 2004 We would not be interested in 2-night package or the tour packages. We live in Portland, OR and would just drive up the day before. I have a free stay in Seattle. Also, we probably won't do the "tours." This is just one opinion. However, I'm sure many others will be interested in this. I hope it would be an individual choice. Thanks, Lynda

I plan to "do my own thing" in Skagway and go to Emerald Lake probably BUT lots of people don't like ship tours and some might like to have some things lined up ahead of time and save some money in the proces. These tours would be booked directl with the operator at our rates and definitely not "group" tours that would have a minimum from our group that would have to go... Lynda90 Posted June 15, 2004 #81 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Hi Caroline, I hope I didn't come across as being negative. I travel with my Mom who is getting on in years and we basically love cruising, the entertainment and meeting new people. We sometimes don't even get off the ship, but magage to always have a great time. Looking forward to receiving your information. Lynda
NitaBcruising Posted June 15, 2004 #82 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Caro, Even though I would be driving up from Vancouver (Wa.!) I may be interested in a pre-cruise stay in Seattle. My cabinmate is from ND, so we would meet ahead and do the sights together! We may also be interested in tours. Something to consider, at least! So, if it's not toooooo much trouble, we'd like to see your choices! Thanks for all you're doing with this group! Much appreciated! Nita
PiperMcB Posted June 15, 2004 #83 Share Posted June 15, 2004 I am definitely interested in this. I am a solo traveller--but my sister mentioned that she wanted to do an Alaska cruise--so I may be able to get her interrested as well. Screwbit Posted June 15, 2004 #84 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Host Caroline: If you get an option for one-night pre-cruise as well as two, that would peak our interest. NEW YORK LADY Posted June 15, 2004 #86 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Caroline, I would like to see what you have on hotel stays for pre-cruise and also would be interested in tours as I usually book off the ship tours anyway. Just a question though about booking these tours. What is we don't make that port? Do we pay in advance and would we get a refund. Usually when I have made reservations off the ship, we paid at the dock so no worry if we missed that port. Thanks Jackie

Northender Posted June 15, 2004 #88 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Caro, we would be interested in a one night stay, that is for sure. Coming from East Coast, I would want to arrive Friday afternoon or evening. Not sure if we can get an extra two days. Depending on the prices, etc. that could make a difference whether we do the tours, etc. Just checked on flights from Boston and they are quite long - 8 hours as most airlines have one stop. Would probably like to use some FF miles if possible, so just let us know the particulars when you can. You will need to ply me with more than a few wines to get me to sing. Way UP North....... sensasianl Posted June 15, 2004 #89 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Interested in One Night Pre-cruise Like Northender, we'll be coming from the east coast and trying to limit the number of extra vacation days we take, so flying in on Friday would be easiest for us with just one night pre-cruise option if possible as well. NEW YORK LADY Posted June 15, 2004 #90 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Caroline, when you do get pricing please make sure to include triple rate also for a mini-suite as I would be going along with two other girls from my office and we would be splitting the suite. Host Caroline Posted June 17, 2004 Author #94 Share Posted June 17, 2004 For those that asked, I will definitely check with hotels re special rate for one night pre-cruise also! Especially from East Coast I always go a day early just in case weather or those "unexpected delays" should interfere.. have never yet waved at the ship instead of from it Host Caroline Join me on the beautiful Diamond Princess in July 2005 for Cruise Critic's Awesome Alaskan Adventure --You'll have a whale of a good time! Sept 04-Royal Hounds Mariner of the Seas Feb 05-Partae Pirates Carnival Miracle One can never have too many days at sea..
daWoods Posted June 17, 2004 #95 Share Posted June 17, 2004 Caroline, Is there a chance of deals on pre and post cruise stays? We've been tossing around the idea of renting a car after this cruise and doing the coast to San Francisco. We'd probably need at least one night in Seattle to get our bearings post cruise.
