Tours Plaza + San Miguel On Our Own

We will be off the Allure in April on a day when several ships will be in Cozumel. Don't think we are interested in a beach day. The roll call has not been very active so sharing a private tour seems unlikely.

 

Was considering a 3/4 hour island tour with Tours Plaza ($107/$130) with a drop off in San Miguel where we could lunch, shop for a few hours and then taxi back to the ship at the International Pier.

 

Seem like a plan or any other suggestions?????? Have never been to Cozumel.

Tours Plaza can take you around the island. There's extra charge to go to the lighthouse. And you can enjoy lunch or drinks at several places on the east side--less crowded than the tourista places in San Miguel Plaza.

 

Or if that doesn't interest you, scrub the tour and just grab a taxi and head to downtown. Walk around and shop or visit the really nice but small museum. Have a lunch at a place downtown, less tourist oriented but with good food. La Mission, Casa Denis are two. Several local loncherias and comdias around on the streets away from the plaza. Excellent food, local oriented, will take US$ but maybe not CCs. Or go to the El Mercado and eat at one of the kiosks. Then take a taxi back.
