missmartin Posted December 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2016 Has anyone ever done Altun Ha on your own? I was wondering how much it cost to take a taxi there from the ship? Is there shopping there? Lunch? Thanks :)
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) You could probably negotiate with a driver. But to give you and idea, it's $26 per taxi from the cruise port the airport and that's only about 11 miles. Altun Ha is around 35 miles away, but probably takes 50 minutes or so to get there. So guessing $80 one way. Plus waiting time. There's some small souvenir shopping kiosks there. Nothing special or unique, IMO. Better shopping in port or across from the terminal in the local crafts market. No place to eat around there, you'll need to come back toward the city. There are places along or near the Northern Highway before you get back to port, but they are very locally oriented. You are better all around getting an excursion from an independent vendor. Cheaper per person and they'll take you to decent lunch stop or bring you back. Edited December 23, 2016 by crewsweeper
