aandrseidl Posted December 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2016 Looking for some advise. We are a group of 8 traveling down to NO during spring break. 3 kids - 9 being the youngest. We will be sailing on the Dream. We will be driving down and would like to spend a night or two in the area. Would like to take the kids into NO during the day and do some sightseeing and eating, but don't need to be in the heart of the city at night. Would like something close to the port. A hotel with a pool or something for the kids to do at night would also be helpful. Will need parking as we are driving down. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks! Rare dctravel Posted December 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2016 Are you looking to stay in NO? If so, there are many choice and you would likely (based on your description) want to choose a hotel in the Central Business District (CBD), Warehouse district, or near the convention center. We stayed at the Hilton Riverwalk before our Dream cruise in March, and thought it was really good and convenient. On past non-cruise trips, I have stayed many times at the Sheraton on Canal. Nice hotels with great river views of you swing it. Our kids loved Mardi Gras world, walking on Royal Street in the French Quarter, and riding the streetcar. Fireman9302 Posted December 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2016 We stayed at the Fairfield Inn in the Central Business district..we parked our car at Fulton parking garage and walked back to the hotel..two blocks walk to the streetcar to take us into the French Quarter for lunch and sight seeing during the day.. When it got a little late, we walked to the River Walk outlet mall and walked that all the way back to Julia Street where the hotel was..and let the kids swim. Ibcrazier2 Posted December 28, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2016 Check out the LePavillon http://www.lepavillon.com/ Our favorite hotel. They have family time at 10pm every night in the lobby and have free peanut butter sandwiches and milk in the lobby.
