Currency in Nassau

Wondering about currency in Nassau. If it's better to take cash (American dollars) or to use credit card? Do all places accept the American dollar? Worried they won't accept the American dollar or the Discover card. What did you guys do while visiting?

Bahamas money but everyone takes the American dollar, no worries

American dollars are accepted but the vendors don't always have enough to make change so take small bills. We usually use cash except for larger purchases (like paying for a hotel day pass).
