"Best" would be a stretch limo with a stocked bar!

More economical would be a one way car rental (the drive takes an hour+ depending upon traffic). Cheaper still is to ride the TriRail train from PBI to FLL and then taxi/Uber to your hotel.

Go Airport Shuttle is an option - you can get a quote on-line. Plug your start and end points into Uber for a fare estimate.

We want to do the car rental from the West Palm Beach airport or FFL to the POM. I am concerned about which agency would be the easiest and most convenient to use. Suggestions? Also Uber might be a good option but is there the ability to set up a scheduled pick up? We're totally unfamiliar with using them.

We've booked with Alamo because they have a free shuttle between the airport and the cruise terminal. We'll have our 2 children with us and just think it will be easier to pick up and drop off at airports.
