drk Posted November 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2005 Elinor and Bob, Haven't seen any posts by you since the end of your first cruise in Oct. Hope all is well and you made it home OK and had a great time on the second cruise. We've been wondering since you stopped posting live from the ship. We had a great time post cruise in Venice and no problems getting home. Enjoyed meeting you. Kevin & Cathy
Cruising Illini Posted November 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2005 Sorry to have been just plain lazy. I was not posting live from the ship because much of the time I was using time checking on the hurricane situation. We were very lucky and it was at least 100 miles south of us. The second 10 days was great too -- a little rain but still smooth seas. Met a couple of more CC friends and that was fun of course. Our day in Venice was perfect catching the Vaporetto (sp??) from near the ship was great. My big experience was having a coke (with music??) on the square for $18 while Bob went to American Express. Our guide and driver in Rome was the highlight. He took us so MANY places we had not seen before and parked within feet of anyplace we wanted such as the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. We drove on the Apian Way and also saw the Pope's Summer Palace -- all new to us -- and his English was perfect. Trip home was slightly delayed in Paris with minor mechanical problems but eventually on the way -- did miss Atlanta connection but no big deal. Happy travels in the future!! We have signed up for the New England-Canada trip for the 4th time in Fall of 2006 but will have Oceania (Carib) and Amsterdam in Europe before that. drk Posted November 9, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted November 9, 2005 Glad to hear the balance of your trip went well and the worst of the storm missed you. We also just missed the worst of it here. Next up for us is a Christmas week on Carnival with our daughter and her friend (the kids love those fun ships!) and then 9 days on Century to the caribbean in Feb. Maybe Alaska this summer and northern Europe is also on our radar screen. Enjoy all your trips!! Kevin & Cathy
