KPfromCT Posted January 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2017 While we are a Carnival family, we DID try Oasis this year. I really think if the prices are good, which they were for us, everyone needs to experience it ONCE. It was AMAZING. But, at the end of the cruise, we missed Carnival........ With that being said, we are taking our first cruise on the Magic in June!:D:D Can't wait! Let us know what you decide, and happy sailings!!!:D
poz222 Posted January 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2017 For the same $$$ I would say Oasis... it is an amazing ship to experience!
JinxyB Posted January 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Having done both ships, and if it was the same or comparable price, then I would def choose Oasis! The ship itself is gorgeous and I think everyone should experience an Oasis class ship at least once!
xitappers2bx Posted January 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2017 If price is almost the same which would you prefer for young adults! I was booked on Harmony of the Seas for this month, but cancelled to jump on the Magic with my family. I wanted to cruise the Harmony because that's my name, but the thought of having 6000 people on board with me left me feeling a little overwhelmed. I think if you're into the many things offered on Oasis then go for it, but I feel more nickeled and dimed on RCI than I do on CCL.
lizzyandrew Posted January 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2017 We cruised on Allure of the Seas (Oasis sister ship) last June. What an amazing ship and my kids' (11,13) first cruise. Having cruised many times with Carnival, and loved all our cruises, we are trying Magic in June. It'll be my kids first Carnival cruise. People say that we shouldn't have done Allure as their first cruise bc they'll compare. We will see! Hope they love Carnival as much as we do[emoji6]. Lots more food choices on Carnival... harry0 Posted January 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 3, 2017 Oasis-no comparison. Aqua Theater is amazing-Ice skating and ice show awesome. xitappers2bx-you feel more nickel and dimed on Royal-Realy? I tryed to take a picture of my grandaughter with a dR sUESS chaRACTOR ON THE mAGIC AND i WAS STERNLY TOLD IT WAS NOT ALLOWED-i HAD TO BUY THIER PHOTOS. Oops cap lock was on. Not the case on Royal -Pics of the kids with Shrek and Alex from Madagascar are encouraged. that being said-we had a wonderful cruise on the Magic! Cruzaholic41 Posted January 3, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 3, 2017 I've cruised both more than once and I agree with the majority. Oasis, hands down. It is an absolutely amazing ship Xitappers2bx - Despite 6000 people on Oasis Class, Magic is a more crowded ship and has a smaller space to passenger ratio. poz222 Posted January 3, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 3, 2017 Strangely enough, I found the Oasis class ships feel so much less crowded generally than any CCL ship. They really do,a great job of moving people so they are not all in one area! The only crowded places on the Oasis class are the buffet and the promo made during the sidewalk and $10 sales... I found LOTS of areas (Central Park and boardwalk) almost empty, even on a full ship!! Yes, the Oasis IS the destination!!

Did oasis once and Allure once and have Oasis booked again. Bill
fla gang Posted January 3, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted January 3, 2017 I agree that once you have been on an Oasis class ship you can't step down. We have been on several Carnival ships and the Dream was the only cruise that we had horrible dining service. Ship: Beautiful Service: Horrible
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted January 3, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) If price is almost the same which would you prefer for young adults! OASIS hands down. I love the Oasis class ships. So much to do. I cruise on this class of ship for the ship and not the itinerary. So much fun. As another poster said, the Oasis is the destination. I have cruised on the Allure, the Oasis and can't wait to try the new Harmony. Edited January 3, 2017 by AZ Karaoke Girl

I think if you're into the many things offered on Oasis then go for it, but I feel more nickeled and dimed on RCI than I do on CCL. It doesn't feel like 6000 people onboard. I have been on ships with less than 2500 that felt more crowded. My last cruise on the Oasis I booked a boardwalk balcony instead of the ocean view side of the ship. I got to sit on my balcony and watch all the aqua shows, movies on the big screen, watch the people climbing the rock wall and the zipline overhead. It was AMAZING! It was truly awful, I don't mind paying for stuff, but if I'm paying so much more to be ON the ship, I do want something for being ON the actual ship. But thanks for your fake indignation, we did the Dr. Suess thing and took our own photos no problem.
cparkerkite Posted January 4, 2017 #18 Share Posted January 4, 2017 We have sailed on Oasis and there is nothing like her. WOW. It was simply amazing. We also sailed on the Dream, sister ship to Magic. We had a GREAT time, but Oasis was better. BUT, I thought food was better on Carnival... slight edge. But, you seriously need to sail an Oasis class ship just once. It is quite an experience and the Oasis is gorgeous. I've got some questions myself.... The only reason I'm hesitant about the Magic is cigarette smoke. On both the Dream and Oasis, the smoke was heavy at the casino, but we pretty much avoided that area and had no issues. BUT, I've read numerous reviews that said the stink of cigarettes permeated the Magic... like the whole atrium area, shops, etc. Can someone that is a non-smoker tell me if this is true? Is the stink of smoke that bad everywhere in the atrium? Right outside the casino, I get it. That isn't a big deal to me, but if it is everywhere, that's an issue. Thanks for your help! While not the ship you're asking about, we sailed on the Carnival Freedom and the whole ship smelled of stale cigarettes. I got use to it after a while, but I noticed my clothes had the smell when I returned.

But thanks for your fake indignation, we did the Dr. Suess thing and took our own photos no problem. You only have to pay for optional stuff. that doesn't make or break your cruise. The ice skating, rock climbing walls, surfing, zipline, merry go round, all free. The shows at the AquaTheater are free as well as all the other shows. You can have your photo taken with the characters like Shrek or Madagascar characters with your own camera. I did. Lots of places to eat that aren't extra. I actually thought there was a lot more free options on Oasis than other ships perhaps. So much to do and so little time especially if you have a port intense itinerary. I cruise on Oasis class ships for the ship itself and don't care where it takes me.
fla gang Posted January 5, 2017 Author #23 Share Posted January 5, 2017 I was on the Freedom years ago and just walking by the casino was horrible. The stale cigarette smell was very strong. I was a total Carnival junkie until I did my first cruise on Royal Caribbean. The younger kids in our group 23-28 were impressed with all of the activities to do.They liked the drink package because both people in the cabin aren't required to purchase the package like Carnival. I will probably do the Vista at some point just to compare to Royal. I love Disney cruise lines, but will not pay the prices they want when I can do Royal or Carnival for much less! beachseasand Posted January 6, 2017 #24 Share Posted January 6, 2017 Try the Oasis. We were on during spring break and they said it was the most people they ever had on the ship at that time. Amazingly did not feel crowded. The shows were absolutely amazing. So for the same price point give it a try. Been on the Breeze sister ship of Magic. And love the laid back feel of the ship. And this up coming trip just want to chill out and relax. So going back to Carnival. After being away a couple years a little apprehensive with all the changes I have been reading about. Beginning to wonder if Carnival will live up to RCCL or Norwegian. I always thought all 3 lines were very similar. Well we shall see. A day cruising sure beats working any way.
