Question about shops in Stavanger

we will be in Stavanger from only 8-2. My notes say the shops mainly open around 10:00. If we take the private boat to Pulpit Rock (Rodne tours), the earliest boat is at 10:00 and it's a 3 hour tour, leaving no time to browse the shops after the boat as we would have to be onboard at 1:30. But I wondered if the ships open earlier when a ship is there? Our alternative is the ship excursion at 8:30, also 3 hours but more than twice as expensive. Thanks!

When we did a Norway cruise I can honestly say I never saw anything I wanted to buy. Everything was very expensive and I could buy it all cheaper in London.

In Stavanger I do remember seeing some stalls selling things, but can't remember what time it was.
