Cabs and Ubers in Galveston, TX

Just got back from Galveston Monday - I had a time getting the shuttle (jeff's) to p/u from the hotel. They were nice enough to explain the $20 port charge on top of the $20 shuttle fare, but we had to wait 30 mins! We opted to be dropped off outside the port gates and walked across to avoid the extra port charge. When we returned to port we waited another 20-30 mins for pickup (outside the gates). I even tried calling Yellow for p/u and she tells me they don't pickup from the terminal?? ***? I said I was outside the terminal gates, she said no! I hung up and continued to wait for Jeff's. I told them 4 people. They arrived in a crown vic (ok we fit-not a big deal), but his trunk with loaded with junk!! We got 3 suitcases and my husband had to carry the oversized duffel on his lap! I asked if he could send another van, he said they were all at the airport, nothing left?!? So I think you're taking your chance with cab co. in Galveston. I am rethinking port parking next time.
