Carnival Lost My Parents

So I just booked my parents on a Carnival cruise (it will be their 4th) and I could not find their VIFP number through the web site. I called, but the agent could not find any record of them as past guests and just assigned them new numbers. He also couldn't find any record of their past cruises. I did manage to get them booked, but they have no credit for past cruises and the agent said they would just have to start over.

Has anyone else had this happen? I don't have their past booking numbers, but I do have the ship names and sail dates. I am wondering if there is any way to get their past cruise credits back.

Can you login on Carnival? My past cruises show up there. I haven't booked Carnival in 5 years and when I just booked PVP had all my cruises show up.

Call back and ask to speak to a PVP or a supervisor.

You were more than likely talking to a CSR and often they have limited capacity to find and correct things. These are like your first line tech support, they tell you repeatedly to reboot your computer, when you know darn well that is not going to fix the problem...

I suggest you request a PVP and then have them fix the booking.

I highly doubt Carnival lost their history, it is possible, but unlikely.

I logged into the account I had set up for my dad for their last Carnival cruise which was in 2011. His name is there, but the entire history is gone. It shows no points and no cruises. Even the VIFP number is blank. It is the oddest darn thing.

Do they have any of their sail and sign cards. That would be proof.

Thank you for the advice. I guess that will be my next step.

It is highly unlikely that Carnival really lost your parent's records. A little persistence is needed to get hold of a person who will patiently trace their records. Aside from enjoying a cruise, earning cruise credits is also expected to avail of loyalty benefits. Since you have their previous cruise history, update by Carnival needs tp be done if their files are really not found.

When we have not had our VIFP numbers handy, the Carnival rep has looked us up by telephone number and had access to all of our cruise history. You might want to give them another call and see if they can look your parents up via phone number.

Try emailing guestcare@carnival.com and explain what you need. Provide their names, ships sailed and sail dates in the email and request credit. Any proof you have that you can send in the email would be beneficial. Photos taken that show your parents on the cruise, past credit card charges, or anything you can think of that shows they were on those cruises could help. It sounds like a glitch in Carnival's system.

Good luck.

I hope you are able to get this straightened out but I must admit when I saw the title of the post I thought Carnival had lost your parents' ashes or something horrible like that. LOL. So pleased to see they only lost their past bookings. Good luck tracking them down!

I had a similar problem, but it turns out Carnival put a space in my last name (always screws up my price protection form  ). I have a last name like McIverson and they spell it Mc Iverson. Could this be causing your problem? If so, it's super easy to fix the missing cruise part of your problem.

Good luck!

Be advised that you might get some resistance from the pvp in his willingness to help you since he will be using his valuable time not making any money since you did not book with that pvp.

You may get a gem that will help you with the prospect of making money on a future booking but unfortunately for my son that was not the case.

Good luck

Bill

It's funny my parents last cruise with Carnival was in 2011 and they couldn't find them when I booked all of us on the Vista in May. I was just persistent with them, it took awhile and took them to look in several locations but they were able to locate them. My mother was easier, my dad was a little more difficult as he has a common name, but after using phone number, address, dob they finally located him.

My husband was also issued a new VIFP number for cruise this summer. When I asked about it, I was told they couldn't find any record of him. I provided his vifp number and Carnival still couldn't find it. I have all his sail and sign cards so will eventually get them credited. No clue why it happened.

Might I suggest looking at your parents' email history? They would have been receiving the VIFP Connection newsletter as well as sale advertising. Any email they have in old mail, or in saved mail, if they saved any, would have their VIFP # as well as how many points they have. Even if they deleted them, they could still be in the trash. I would check those. Good luck!

Did your parents buy the embarkation photos on their other cruises? My first 2 cruises were back in the 80's when they didn't keep electronic records. I was able to send them copies of the embarkation photos along with a copy of our DL's and got credit for them.

We never get any emails from Carnival even though we have signed up for them numerous times.

Get plenty of phone calls though.

I have never received a VIFP Connection newsletter, and I've been on 15+ Carnival cruises.

I have tried numerous times to sign up to receive offers by email, etc., and I never get anything from them.

My 29 year old son has been cruising since 2005. A few weeks ago, we were trying to figure out how many VIFP points he has and how many more to go until he reaches platinum. We realized that he didn't have a way to see that info so we set up an account for him. On his cruise history page there was nothing, of course, but there was a place to click "Add Missing Cruises". We did that with minimal info required and within a couple of days it was updated and correct.....along with his VIFP number.
