How to get from Port Everglades to FLL

Can anyone please tell me the best (and least costly) way to get from the cruise ship to the airport (FLL) in Fort Lauderdale? It seems very close. Will taxis take you? Are there shuttles? Is Uber allowed on the port?

The last time we were there I had booked a rental car at FLL but I found only certain rental companies had shuttles from the port to the air port.

Any advice?

A taxi is quick and should cost around $15.

Do Uber, they pick up in front of the terminal. On our recent return New Years Eve we did Uber, cost $6.99. Two people with three large bags and a carry on. Use either Uber or UberX depending on luggage.

Uber! On our last cruise we used Uber from the airport to our hotel and then from the hotel to the port. Most of the Uber drivers are very familiar with both the airport and the port. I also agree with the post above about getting an Uber XL. More space for luggage. I'm guessing that's probably the cheapest option, too. Not to mention most convenient.

Careful! Some Taxi drivers are a tad larcenous. One charged us $21 fare. Fare should be around $13 plus tip. He went on the highway unnecessarily, and took us for a ride -- literally and figuratively -- a lesson learned for about $10. I've spent more, and stayed stupid, though.
