carnival freedom rooms refurbished?

Hi just wondering if the rooms were refurbished during carnival freedom's dry dock in 2014? Sometimes they don't touch the rooms. Did the bathrooms look updated? How about the rooms?

We are sailing the Breeze next month for the first time (did the magic a few times). Trying to decide if we should repeat the breeze in december or if it would be worth going on Freedom. We are in our 40's with three boys 9,9,8. Its usually kind of chilly in december in route so not sure they will get much pool usage. We like to gamble but don't like a smoky environment. Any opinions would be appreciated from those that have sailed both. Thanks in advance!

Just got off Freedom today and was on it in mid December. Love that ship - great crew. Rooms in good condition. With younger children, they may prefer the Breeze. I like the smaller size of the Freedom! Might want to give it a try for a change! Weather was great. Pool and sunshine all days except last night when we were returning to Galveston.

We were on the Freedom in Sept 2016. Like kktexas, we loved that ship & crew. I don't think the bathroom/cabin was majorly updated. There was a newer flat screen TV, but not much different from the other Conquest class ships we've sailed. Not as updated décor as the Breeze. They did have Dr Seuss brunch & activities for the kids if your kids would enjoy that. Freedom probably doesn't have as much for the kids as the Breeze, but I'm sure they'd enjoy it. We had a wonderful dining staff on our cruise, food was good, service was excellent. Entertainment was just ok, IMO.

I'm leaving out in March for my first cruise on the Freedom. Would you happen to have a picture of your Fun Times Document from last week? Someone said that it would help me in planning!

Was on The Freedom this past September and no the cabins were not updated. I had an inside cabin on deck 7 and it was fine. And if you are sailing out of Galveston in the winter it will be very cold so you won't get use of the pool until you reach the Caribbean.

As for the casino I will warn you ahead of time that it is VERY smokey! Matter of fact the minute I stepped onto this ship I could smell the smoke. I was thinking that maybe it was just me but my two friends also commented on the smell. We got used to the smell but every time we walked through the casino it was very overwhelming.

Don't get me wrong as I did like the Freedom and would sail on her again. The one ship that I didn't like was the Breeze as it felt very crowded everywhere we walked. My favorite ship was the Magic but that was probably because it was a Med cruise and we had the Ocean suite. Loved that cabin!!

Hi Ginger!

How do you boys like the cruising? I'm a single dad taking my two boys (ages 6 & 8) on the Freedom in April and I'm a little nervous letting them be on their own within Camp Carnival and such. Did your boys do everything with you and husband or did you allow them to do things on their own?

Hi Pika;

Always a little scary letting the kids out of hands reach but we found the kids clubs on Carnival to be very safe! Until they are 12 they are not allowed to leave the camp until an authorized person (you) signs them out. Our daughter is 9 and has sailed since she was 2. Some cruises we could not get her out of the club and on other cruises she would only go some of the time. We always sit down with her and she what catches her eye and take her to those events.(every minute is planned out). We always go back about every hour and ask her if she wants to leave.

Have fun with the boys and know that when they are in the club they will be safe!
