I have to admit, when I got the TravelZoo E mail, I almost fell off my chair. Had been postponing reserving Dec. 19 - don't know why - just dragging my feet. However, when the $99 appeared - I was "yahoo".

So, I called and the $99 is somewhat misleading. It will still cost us $241. for three adults and one 17 year old. Still a deal considering it's Atlantis, but don't think $99 is going to cover it. Anyway, comes down to $60. p/p which is not bad at all. You'd pay that on an excursion, easy.

So - just wanted to make sure you understand the "$99"!!

It's $99 for 2 adults and if you have children, 2 children under the age of 11. If you have children 12 and over, or a third adult, the rate increases $45 for each period OVER 12 years old.

Also, the $99 doesn't include tax. Technically, the total came to $126 - paying $27 in tax, which is pretty standard hotel tax and every other tax that the government likes to dip their hands into.

Even $241 is cheap. The hotel alone, without the $99 deal, could have cost you at least $240, then add in $45 for the 3rd and 4th guest over the age of 11, and you would have been paying alot more.

I am happy with the $240. It's just amazing how the add ons add up.

I'm just not used to all the add ons. I booked Dec. 19 and we're really looking forward to it! Just wish we had more time - we're in Nassau from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. We'll enjoy every minute :)

Called Atlantis & they are running the special for $99 (plus additional people plus taxes, etc). We have 9 people, so we were required to book 3 rooms as they won't put 5 in a room (even if one is only 7).

I told the guy in reservations that we were coming in on a cruise ship on 12/11 (we are at port only from 7am - 1pm). Since their check in time is not until 3pm, I wanted to make my reservation for 12/10 and not really check in until early morning 12/11. He very firmly advised me that all reservation that are not checked in by midnight will get cancelled and subject to full penalties (they have a full cancellation penalty clause for 1 day stays with less than 14 days notice).

Any tips from vereran cruisers who have been up against this same situation?

He did offer up the guest pass for $29 which includes Dig & Marine Habitats & access to the property. He did say that we would NOT have access to slides or direct beach access. Given that we must be back on the ship by ~ noon, this may not be a bad option. Thoughts?

Man, I would make a ressie for 12/11. Even though check in time isn't until 3pm, all that means is if a room isn't available yet, you won't get one, but they will give check you in and allow you to use the facilities until room is available, which if you check out before one is, so what? Do you need the room? For our trip mentioned below, we got there around noon and checked in fine, no problems.

Our trip:

They had a similar deal this past sept that I got lucky enough to take advantage of on our Disney cruise. We booked the $99 deal only to find out when we got to the pier at Cape Canaveral that our itinerary had been changed due to what was then Tropical Storm Rita in the Bahamas. Instead of going to Atlantis on 9/19, we were now to get there 9/20. Luckily I printed off the travelzoo phone info from the deal so I had the same # I called in to book. I decided what harm could it do to see if they'll change my ressie by a day? Guess what? They said sure, no problem. NO add'l charge! Also when I originally booked I asked them to email me a confirmation which they did, which was helpful to have if you want something in writing.

When we checked in around noon on the 20th, they gave us a room right away. We put our stuff in the room. Taxi fare was $4pp and took about 10 minutes or so to get there. On the way over, we were not charged for our DS3, and on the way back, they didn't charge us for our DD5 either. So, sometimes, you might get lucky and get free taxi fare for the kiddos.

We had full use of the facilities...pools, aquariums, the dig, whatever we wanted to do. The kids loved the aquariums!!! And we mostly hung out at the Ripples Kiddie pool on the opposite side of the big Mayan Water Slide. DH & I took turns running over to the big waterslide (NO LINES!!!). It was great fun! LIttle slides for the kids at Ripples.

We had brought a soft sided cooler with snacks so didn't spend anything while there. I suppose the only bad thing that happened was when we got home, our credit card was charged around $72 more dollars. I knew we'd owe taxes, but $72? I called and found out they had around $26 taxes/gratuities and the other $46 was for minibar charges! What! We hadn't even opened let alone used it. I immediately challenged the charge both with Atlantis Quality Assurance and with my credit card. They investigated and about 4 weeks or so later, I was refunded. Some people since then have told me that bumping up against the minibar can set off sensors and charges. Oh well, at least it was resolved.

Any questions, let me know!

I not only got in on the sale (but I upgraded to Coral Towers because Beach Towers is quite a walk from the rest of the huge resort), but I got in on the $9 dollar sale-- yes.. that's NINE DOLLAR each way flight on Spirit Airlines.

This is my second stay at Atlantis. I was there last year in September, and it was great because the place was empty. What's it like around the second week of December? I'm hoping it's not packed.

I wish Atlantis would just sell day passes already. I mean, it's silly that people who actually want to *stay* at the resort can't get cheap rooms 'cause people who just want to use them for the day snap them up. It's really counterproductive, because they make a lot more money off of overnight guests than day-trippers. I would think they'd *love* to take the extra $$ from the daytrippers and sell the room to someone who would be gambling, eating and drinking at the resort.

How much more was the upgrade to Coral Towers?

Jersey Girl,

I booked a room in the beach towers. Is it really that far of a walk from everything? How often do you really use or go back to the room.

The next price in the other towers cost about $30.00 more and now I am beginning to wonder if I should change my reservation.

Thanks

We had a room in beach towers, the cheapest available when we had the deal. It was at one end of the property and the mayan temple water slide is at the total opposite end...about a 15 minute brisk walk. We didn't find it bothersome because on our way over, we took it slow to view everything, including the underwater cave aquariums, which the children loved. That way we got to sight see a little bit first, and then plopped down at the ripples kiddie pool. The kids liked the slides/swimming, while DH & I took turns on the mayan slide. If you don't want to go that far, the lazy river is close to the beach towers. I didn't think it was that bad, but I'm an active adult with active kids.

I'm active with active kids, too.

Does the lazy river have just one entrance/exit? I've been to a alot of water parks where the lazy river had entrances and exits throughout the "river", so we could also venture to the other side of the complex via the river?

Thanks for posting this ~ I just made our reservations this morning. We'll be on Fantasy and booked a room for our night there. It's a great stopover since we arrive at 7 a.m. and leave again at 7 a.m. the next morning. Plenty of time to enjoy Atlantis :D

I originally upgraded to Coral Towers, but changed it back to Beach Towers. That extra $30 will go toward lunch or whatever. After all, we're not really staying there so a room is a room.

I agree, and the "extra" walking will do me good! :D Enjoy your stay!
