msladybuggg Posted January 11, 2017 #151 Share Posted January 11, 2017 So loving your review! My family of 4 (myself, husband, daughter 12 and son 17)along with my mother and her husband, mother in-law, sister in-law and 2 brother in-laws will be on the Magic in aprox 11 days the countdown is intense now!!!!Just a few questions if you dont mind.... Did you find the MDR to be strict on dress code? Are there any deck chairs by the slide entrance? Did you notice any guests putting decorations on their stateroom doors? Thanks
Rare APDMOM Posted January 11, 2017 Author #152 Share Posted January 11, 2017 What a fantastic time! We did the same ports on the Valor last summer. Looking forward to or trip on the Magic in April. We have a different port schedule but looks like the DNs (7 and 12) and DD (17) will love the sea days! Sent from my iPhone using Forums I bet they will! There were not many children on our sailing, as it was the week before Thanksgiving. We had the Waterworks to ourselves one day! [emoji846] Enjoy planning your adventure on Magic! Did you find the MDR to be strict on dress code? Are there any deck chairs by the slide entrance? Did you notice any guests putting decorations on their stateroom doors? Thanks Hi, msladybuggg! Thank you for reading along! I did not see anyone being turned away from the MDR. I do know they will not allow shorts on formal nights (saw someone turned away on Fascination). It was very cool to cold in our area in Northern Lights, so we always brought sweaters/jackets. There are no deck chairs by the entrance to the slides, as it is up may stairs. There is some seating by the Waterworks. I will see if I have pictures of that area. [emoji846] There were quite a few doors decorated with simple decorations, like "Happy Birthday" or a laminated sheet with the purpose for the cruise, etc. I did not see anything big. Enjoy your cruise! Sent from my iPad using Forums

Rare APDMOM Posted January 11, 2017 Author #155 Share Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Since we are covering a sea day, let's visit the popular and crowded areas on sea days... The pools: The Beach pool (midship): Pick up towels here, when you need them: There is some shaded space on deck 11, where you can find these nice-looking chairs: Can anyone say, "Sardines?" :D Sent from my iPad using Forums Edited January 12, 2017 by APDMOM
Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #156 Share Posted January 12, 2017 The Tides Pool (aft): There is a hot tub on each side: Note: The big screen TV is at the Beach Pool, so it is a bit more calm at the aft pool. However, Carnival constantly plays music... I went out around 5:30 one morning to take sunrise pictures, and they played the same music they would play in the middle of the day. I was expecting a nice quiet, calm sunrise here at the aft pool in the early morning, but it was not the case. It would be nice if they played music that is a little more subdued/subtle so early, or no music at all so that we can enjoy the sound of the wake...that is just my preference. Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #159 Share Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) If the crowds get to be too much, just go find one of the "secret doors"... Here is one on deck 7, forward: Look for this cabin, then find the door with the porthole: Walk through, and you end up forward on the ship, where you can be the first to see your ship's destination ;) Note: It can be pretty windy up there! crazyboys Posted January 12, 2017 #163 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Loved your review and pics and of course all the tips. Where did you get the magnetic hooks you used? They seem to be pretty strong to hold jackets and such.

Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #167 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Loved your review and pics and of course all the tips. Where did you get the magnetic hooks you used? They seem to be pretty strong to hold jackets and such. Thanks, crazyboys :) I bought the hooks from Amazon. They are $10 for a pack of 2. I have had mine for several years, and they are as good as new. They have padding on the back, so they do not damage the surface. We use them all the time. Search for Magnetized Tool Hooks For Grill-Fridge-Cabinet (Set of 2).

Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #170 Share Posted January 12, 2017 My View: Day 7 - Grand Turk You've got to love those side-by-side ships in port! Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #171 Share Posted January 12, 2017 We love the variety of offerings right by the dock in Grand Turk. You can spend your last few dollars, brush up on your history and space knowledge, lounge by the beach, enjoy the Margaritaville pool and swim-up bar, walk down the beach to rent watercraft, you name it... Here are some of the views in Grand Turk: Turn left for a fun family picture: Stroll down the beach and enjoy the amazing, warm water (My mom and dad posed for a picture by the ship photographers... it turned out they were the photographers for Conquest :D) Mom and I had so much fun!!! Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #172 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Turn right, and you can see a bit of space history at the NASA exhibit: Past that is a dock that would be just as nice for a family picture. Unfortunately, most of the family had already split up: Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #173 Share Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) I had to cheat and borrow this picture from our 2014 cruise... Margaritaville pool: We tried our best to "trespass"! (No such luck) TIP: If you turn left once you clear the dock, you hit Margaritaville and a long stretch of the beach. If you turn right towards the NASA exhibit, you find this beach - it was much less crowded: Sent from my iPad using Forums Edited January 12, 2017 by APDMOM tip
Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #174 Share Posted January 12, 2017 A few more views of Grand Turk, as seen from the ship: Looking north (left when you face land) - we saw those colorful buildings after we returned to the ship. Unfortunately, our beach stroll ended just a little south of there... sure wish we could have explored that location! Oh, well! Excuse to book another cruise #741 :D Margaritaville: More beach: Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare APDMOM Posted January 12, 2017 Author #175 Share Posted January 12, 2017 When we returned to the ship, we found critters and chair hogs of the Egyptian cotton species: Too soon, it was time to leave and wave goodbye to Conquest and Grand Turk: Sent from my iPad using Forums
