msteries Posted January 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2017 My hair styling tool is rated at 150 watts. Is it safe to plug this in and use onboard?

CaveDiving Posted January 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2017 My hair styling tool is rated at 150 watts. Is it safe to plug this in and use onboard? I would tend to believe that this would not be a problem. Karen commonly uses a hair drier that has a higher wattage rating and has never had an issue. HamOp Posted January 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2017 150 watts @ 125 volts will draw about 1.2 amps. Your average hair dryer will be about 900 to 1200 watts, or 7.2 to 9.6 amps. Most home circuits are at lease 15 amp rated. Not sure how the ships rate their fusing, but I doubt you would have any problem at all.
travelphreak Posted January 10, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2017 You will have no problems plugging into the outlets in the main cabin (behind the TV or on the desk/vanity). There is also an outlet in the bathroom that is intended ONLY for electric shavers i.e. <20 watts or so. Have a great cruise. Harold
