Freeport/Dead Man's Reef/Paradise Cove

We will be in Freeport from 7AM-7PM , Wed 11/16. I'd like some info please on hanging out at Paradise Cove. Is it public or do I need to sign up for a snorkel tour or something? I get the feeling that you can just swim out to the reef from shore. Also is the Red Bar still there for food and drink???? I think i read where a hurricane hit the resort pretty hard? How do we get there??

I don't know any answers to your questions, but I did want to let you know that filming of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 is going on this upcoming week (filming until Feb with a break for holidays). The set is in the same harbour (Lucayan?) where cruise ships dock.

 

I just found this out tonight because Keira Knightly was on the Daily Show tonight (Wednesday) and mentioned that she is going back to the Bahamas for filming this week. There is more info online if you Google it. :)

 

Of course, I just realized that this could be old news here on CC. I just haven't paid attention!
